Grand Laurentius Kirmes in Asbach with five days of festivities, Family Day, grand fireworks, and a market to conclude.
The municipality of Asbach is the largest community in the administrative district of the same name and is located in the northern Westerwald, on the border with neighboring North Rhine-Westphalia. With over 7,000 inhabitants and a vibrant club landscape, Asbach provides the perfect setting for one of the region's largest Kirmes festivals. The parish fair "St. Laurentius" — named after the patron saint — is the social highlight of the summer.
The Kirmes extends from Saturday to Wednesday, spanning five days of festivities. The opening on Saturday at 3 PM will be performed by Mayor Franz-Peter Dahl with a keg tapping ceremony and a Kirmes parade. On the following days, the Kirmes runs all day with rides, stage programs in the festival tent, a parish service on Sunday, family programs, and morning pint gatherings.
Proven rides will be set up on the festival grounds: the "Blue Power" (high-speed circular ride), classic Autoscooter, the "X-Faktor" (flipping ride), and the "Scheibenwischer" (spinning and swinging ride). In addition, there will be carousels, children's rides, shooting galleries, lottery stalls, and a wide range of food options.
Monday is Family Day with reduced prices on the rides — a well-established tradition to encourage family attendance. In the evening at 10 PM, grand fireworks will be set off over the festival grounds, attracting not only Kirmes visitors but also many residents from the entire Asbach administrative district.
The Kirmes concludes on Wednesday with the traditional market — a mix of a weekly market and a showman's market featuring textiles, household goods, food, and regional products. A tradition that harks back to historical Kirmes trade fairs.
The 2026 edition continues the long-standing tradition. The municipality of Asbach and the local festival committee coordinate setup, security, and program planning. Specific stage program details will be communicated in advance by the municipality.
