Fun Run for Everyone

The RWW-Ruhrauenlauf is a classic fun run – open to everyone, regardless of club affiliation, with manageable distances and a friendly atmosphere where participation is the priority. Families are explicitly welcome: children start on 400-meter courses, and parallel walking and Nordic walking categories offer beginners an accessible entry into the running experience.

Routes through the Ruhrauen

The race routes lead over asphalted service roads and paved paths through the idyllic Ruhrauen. The 5-kilometer distance is flat, making it fast – ideal for personal bests. The 10-kilometer route is slightly hilly, alternating between open meadows, riverside groves, and fields along the riverbank. With the 28th edition in 2026, TSV is relocating the starting point: away from Mintarder Straße, into the Ruhrauen directly behind the town hall.

TSV Viktoria 1898 — Organizer with Tradition

Behind the Ruhrauenlauf is TSV Viktoria 1898 Mülheim a. d. Ruhr e.V., one of the city's most traditional sports clubs. The club motto “Train – Get to Know – Exercise Healthily” fits the character of the run: it’s not about triumph, but about moving together. RWW (Rheinisch-Westfälische Wasserwerksgesellschaft mbH) has been the main sponsor and namesake partner for years.

Mülheim an der Ruhr — City on the River

Mülheim an der Ruhr is centrally located in the Ruhr area, between Essen, Duisburg, and Oberhausen. The Ruhrauen stretch along the river throughout the city and are among the region's most important recreational areas. People hike, row, cycle – and run here. The Ruhrauenlauf is a sporting celebration of this special landscape in the middle of the big city.
