Charity run and symbol of peace as part of the International Weeks Against Racism
The Run Against Racism combines sporting commitment with a clear socio-political message. It is part of the nationwide International Weeks Against Racism, which take place annually around March 21st, the International Day Against Racism. In Osnabrück, this week of action is supported by a broad alliance involving Exil e.V., the city's Office for Peace Culture, sports clubs, schools, and initiatives.
Participants can choose between two routes: The shorter route of about 6 km leads around Westerberg, a traditional residential and educational district with a high quality of life. The longer route of about 11 km runs around Rubbenbruchsee, one of the city's most popular local recreation areas. Both routes are scenically attractive and suitable for runners of all levels.
Under the motto 100% Human Dignity, the 2026 edition is entirely dedicated to Article 1 of the Basic Law: Human dignity shall be inviolable. The motto addresses current social debates and emphasizes the binding nature of a value that applies to all people without distinction.
Osnabrück has seen itself as a city of peace since the Peace of Westphalia in 1648. This historical commitment is carried forward today in many formats – from the Osnabrück Peace Prize and the Morgenland Festival to the Run Against Racism. The city administration maintains a dedicated Office for Peace Culture to support civil society initiatives.
The event combines a sporting activity with a clear message against discrimination. Registration is via laufen-os.de. The routes are moderate and suitable for amateur runners, walkers, and strollers. The event will be accompanied by speeches, music, and a get-together atmosphere in the Museumsquartier.
