The biggest Reggae festival in the Ruhr area
The Ruhr Reggae Summer in Mülheim an der Ruhr has been one of the most important Reggae dates in the German-speaking world since 2007. From August 28th to 30th, 2026 – Friday to Sunday – around 15,000 visitors will gather again at the Naturfreibad am Ruhrstadion for three days of open-air festival by the water. The motto remains: "3 Days of Love, Peace & Music".
Naturfreibad am Ruhrstadion — the festival by the lake
The festival grounds are one of North Rhine-Westphalia's most distinctive open-air locations: the Naturfreibad am Ruhrstadion (Friesenstraße 101, 45476 Mülheim), a historic swimming pool with sunbathing lawns, a sandy beach, and water access. Right between the stages and the campsite is the swimming facility – festival atmosphere with an afternoon swimming option. Camping is possible directly by the water; a dedicated camping area borders the festival grounds.
Music: Reggae, Dancehall, Afrobeats, Dub, Hip-Hop, Ska
Unlike pure Reggae festivals, the Ruhr Reggae Summer offers a broad genre spectrum:
- Reggae – classic Jamaican Reggae, Roots Reggae, German Reggae acts
- Dancehall – Jamaican Dancehall, international Dancehall stars
- Afrobeats – African artists, crossover
- Dub – electronic Reggae variant, often in the night program
- Hip-Hop – Reggae-affine Rap artists
- Ska – traditional Ska and Ska-Punk
The artist list for 2026 will be successively published in the weeks before the festival (as of May 2026: lineup not yet finally confirmed). Previous editions featured artists such as Gentleman, Patrice, Jan Delay, Damian Marley, Sean Paul, Shaggy, Burning Spear, and numerous Jamaican headliners.
Tickets and Camping
The advance sale runs via shop.ruhr-reggae-summer.de/rrs/mh2026/. Pre-sale stage 2 costs €129 for the 3-day ticket (as of May 2026; stage 3 and box office prices will be higher). Camping tickets are separate. Glamping and comfort options depending on availability. A dedicated "Vibes Crew" seeks volunteers who will work in exchange for a ticket and catering.
Organizer: U-Concert from Wuppertal
The Ruhr Reggae Summer has been organized by U-Concert GmbH & Co. KG from Wuppertal since its first edition in 2007. U-Concert specializes in Reggae tours and Reggae festivals and, in addition to the Mülheim summer festival, organizes other Reggae events in Germany and Europe.
Mülheim an der Ruhr — Ruhr area up close
Mülheim an der Ruhr is located in the western Ruhr area between Essen, Duisburg, and Oberhausen. The city has an unusual waterside location with the Ruhr River – natural swimming pools, rowing tradition, and the Ruhr banks shape the cityscape more than in its larger Ruhr area neighbors. The festival benefits from this: a summer festival on the river, with swimming opportunities, is only possible in a few places in the Ruhr area.
