Rosenmontagszug Herdorf

The Rosenmontagszug Herdorf is the flagship event of the Karnevalsgesellschaft (KG) Herdorf 1904 e.V. and one of the most traditional parades in the Altenkirchen district. Over 120 years of club history stand behind the event, which draws thousands of visitors to the mountain town every year.

Precisely 2:11 PM

As befits a true Rhenish carnival, the parade starts at 2:11 PM. Floats, walking groups, dance troupes, music bands, and the 'Elferrat' (council of eleven) proceed along the signposted route through the town centre. 'Kamelle' is thrown, people sway to music, and the audience on the roadside sings and dances along.

Adjoining Marquee

After the parade, the festivities move to the KG's marquee. In 2026, DJ Marco Maribello and the live band NonPlusX will be on stage, ensuring a great atmosphere. A special touch is added by the fact that DJ Stocki – a regular guest for 22 years – will be making his last appearance at the Rosenmontagszug Herdorf.

Registration via Online Form

Groups wishing to participate in the parade with their own float or as a walking group must register in advance via the online form on kgherdorf.de. This professionalisation ensures a smooth process and provides every participant with the necessary logistics (assembly point, position in the parade, insurance).

Embedded in the Herdorf Carnival Week

Rosenmontag marks the highlight of the Herdorf 'Narrenfahrplan' (carnival schedule) 2026, which begins on Altweiberdonnerstag (Mardi Gras Thursday) with the storming of the town hall and the start of the marquee festivities. Thus, the Rosenmontagszug is embedded in an entire week of carnival, during which the mountain town in the Hellertal valley intensely celebrates its Rhenish side.
