Schützengilde Dannenberg since 1528

The Schützengilde Dannenberg von 1528 is one of the oldest marksmen's associations in all of Lower Saxony — almost 500 years of tradition stand behind the annual Schützenfest (marksmen's festival) in the historic town on the Elbe. The 2026 edition runs from Wednesday, June 17th, to Sunday, June 21st.

Five Days of Volksfest at the Waldemarturm

The venue is the festival grounds at the Waldemarturm — Dannenberg's landmark. For five days, there will be marksmen's rituals, amusement rides, music, parades, the King's dinner, and an extensive family program. The Children's King shooting on Tuesday, June 16th, marks the start.

Grand Fireworks Display to Conclude

A special Dannenberg tradition is the large grand fireworks display on Sunday evening, June 21st, to conclude the festival. It is among the largest fireworks displays in the region and attracts visitors from all over the Wendland.

Dreigildenpokal and Marksmen's Culture

The Dannenberg Guild is closely connected with its sister guilds Hitzacker and Lüchow — the annual Dreigildenpokal (Three Guilds' Cup) on August 15th solidifies this connection. The Schützenfest in Dannenberg is one of the most prestigious in the entire region.
