About ROCKWOOD Open Air Mackenbach
The ROCKWOOD Open Air Summer Concert in Mackenbach is one of the regular fixtures on the Palatinate rock concert calendar. The cover band ROCKWOOD has existed for over two decades and is well-known in the West Palatinate for its repertoire of classic rock and blues rock. The band's home base is the Waldstadion of SV Mackenbach, a small but traditional sports venue on the edge of the Palatinate Forest.
Mackenbach
Mackenbach is a small municipality in the Weilerbach collective municipality, about 12 kilometers west of Kaiserslautern. The town is accessible via the A 6 motorway (Reichenbach-Steegen exit) and the B 270. The Waldstadion is located on the outskirts of the town and offers ample parking.
Concept
The ROCKWOOD Open Air is designed as a home game concert for the band and is aimed at lovers of classic rock music. The concert is complemented by catering provided by the local sports club, as well as a grandstand and standing and seating areas around the stage. The family-friendly atmosphere is a key attraction of this open-air event.
Repertoire
The program includes classic songs from rock history: from Highway to Hell (AC/DC) to Smoke on the Water (Deep Purple) to Whole Lotta Love (Led Zeppelin) and Rockin' All Over the World (Status Quo). Blues rock classics and selected songs by the Rolling Stones and Eagles are also part of the repertoire.
ROCKWOOD Open Air Mackenbach — edition 2026
The 6th edition of the ROCKWOOD Open Air Summer takes place on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the SV Mackenbach Waldstadion. Doors open and catering begins at 7:30 PM, with the concert starting afterwards. The band will play a long concert set with two blocks and encores.
The Waldstadion offers an intimate open-air atmosphere with a stage, standing room in front of the stage, and seating areas. In case of bad weather, a weather-protected stage will be used; the organizer will provide short-term information on the band's website.
