A Westerwald Festival Tradition

Rock im Feld is one of the traditional rock open-airs in Rhineland-Palatinate, looking back on almost three decades of festival history. It originated from the voluntary initiative of the Rotenhain village community and has preserved its identity as a "festival from the village for the region.".

The Kinder-, Jugend- und Freizeitanlage

The festival grounds are the Kinder-, Jugend- und Freizeitanlage Rotenhain — a multi-purpose facility in the middle of the nature of the eastern Westerwald. The location offers everything a festival needs: ample space for the stage and audience, camping areas, sanitary facilities, and a scenic environment. The atmosphere is reminiscent of the early days of many festivals that later grew large.

Family-Friendly Festival Format

Unlike many metal or rock festivals that primarily target young adults, Rock im Feld has a distinct family focus. Friday is designed as a family day: a program for children and teenagers with free admission opens the festival weekend. This orientation makes Rock im Feld a true festival for all generations.

Eight Live Acts

With eight live acts over three days, the festival focuses on quality rather than quantity. Each act gets its own stage time and is not crammed into a mass program. The musical direction follows the festival's tradition: rock in its many facets — from handmade rock'n'roll and cover programs to contemporary rock acts from the region.

The small scale, the family atmosphere, the dedication of the volunteer crew, and the beautiful location in the Westerwald nature make Rock im Feld a festival experience that clearly stands out from commercial large-scale events.
