Free admission live concert evening with regional bands in the Schneewinkl-Halle
Rock de Gmoa is a remarkable format: a free admission live concert evening with regional bands, organized not by a concert promoter, but by the youth group of the municipality of Schönau am Königssee with all important local clubs. The initiator and coordinator is Marco Brandner, the municipality's youth representative. The motto 'By Everyone and for Everyone' describes the goal: an event evening for the entire village community – young and old, free of charge.
The operational work is shared by the youth groups of several clubs: WSV Königssee, SG Schönau, the Königssee and Schönau Volunteer Fire Departments, the GTEV D'Funtenseer (traditional costume club), the Schönau Tennis Friends, and the Bavarian Red Cross. This model of cross-club youth engagement is unusual in Upper Bavarian club life and is increasingly cited as a role model.
The venue is the Schneewinkl Sports Hall on Schneewinklweg in Schönau. The hall offers ample space for around 1,000 visitors; indeed, the hall was well-filled in the first two editions (2024 and 2025). Food is provided by regional specialties: pretzels, burgers, small snacks; the bar serves non-alcoholic drinks and wine.
The lineup consistently draws from regional bands from the Berchtesgadener Land and neighboring regions. Stylistically, indie and alternative rock dominate, as well as party-ready cover band sets – not a single genre, but a mix that brings together audiences from students to club members.
Schönau am Königssee is a municipality in the Berchtesgadener Land region of Upper Bavaria, on the shore of the Königssee lake, set against the backdrop of the Watzmann mountain. Despite its tourist fame, Schönau is a quiet place to live in winter and spring; Rock de Gmoa creates a live music opportunity here that regularly appears on the Berchtesgaden event calendar.
On Saturday, April 11, 2026, Schönau am Königssee invites you to the 3rd edition of the live concert evening Rock de Gmoa at the Schneewinkl Sports Hall. It starts at 4:30 PM and ends around 11:30 PM. Admission is free, and entry is permitted from age 12.
The lineup features five regional bands: Basement Rat$$, Konglomerat, Zamm Gspuit, BAM, and Jaywalk.
