Three-day spring festival in the Rhododendron Park during the blooming season
Graal-Müritz boasts one of the most beautiful rhododendron parks in Northern Germany. Spanning over 4.5 hectares, with old plantings from the early 20th century, the park is home to hundreds of rhododendron and azalea species in the most diverse colors. Mid-May marks the peak of the bloom — precisely at this time, the town celebrates the Rhododendron Park Festival, a three-day spring festival that makes the park the focal point of a major cultural event.
The festival traditionally begins on Friday evening with an opening party featuring live music and a DJ. Saturday and Sunday offer a varied day program:
A centerpiece of the festival is the Crafts Promenade along the park paths: Over 50 regional artisans and horticultural specialists present their work. Pottery, jewelry, textile art, wood carvings — and especially the horticultural sector: flowers, plants, herbs, honey, and sea buckthorn products. Many exhibitors offer plants to take home, allowing visitors to bring a piece of the Rhododendron Park with them.
Food trucks and stalls scattered throughout the park offer regional specialties: smoked fish from the Baltic Sea, bratwurst, homemade cakes, strawberries from Mecklenburg, lemonades, coffee. The park café is particularly popular during the festival.
The festival is organized annually by the Tourismus- und Kur GmbH Graal-Müritz and is one of the most important spring events on the Mecklenburg Baltic coast. It officially marks the beginning of the tourist season in the seaside resort and attracts visitors from the entire Rostock district, as well as from Hamburg, Berlin, and the surrounding region.
In 2026, the Rhododendron Park Festival will again open the tourist season in Graal-Müritz in mid-May. From May 15 to 17, 2026, the 4.5-hectare park will transform into a mix of folk festival and craft market — perfectly timed with the spectacular rhododendron bloom.
The program follows the proven format: opening evening on Friday with a reception and live music, followed by an extensive stage program, the Crafts Promenade, horticultural stands, and park tours on the following days.
The full program (concert lists, walk act time slots, themes of park tours) will be published a few weeks before the event on graal-mueritz.de.
