The world's largest dedicated Demoscene demoparty – every Easter in Saarbrücken
The Demoscene is an international subculture that has existed since the 1980s: Programmers, graphic artists, and musicians create audiovisual real-time artworks – so-called Demos – which compete against each other in contests. What began as a cracker scene on the Commodore 64 and Amiga has today become a serious digital art form, even added to Germany's UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage in 2021.
The E-Werk Saarbrücken on the Saarterrassen is a former industrial facility, now used as an event location for large-scale events. The combination of industrial charm, ample space for hundreds of computer workstations, and its central location in the heart of Europe makes it the ideal venue: Stars of the scene travel from Scandinavia, Poland, France, Great Britain, and the USA every year to showcase their latest works on the big screen.
The competitions are called Compos: Demo Compo, Intro Compo (often limited to a few kilobytes), Oldschool Compo (Amiga, C64, Atari), Music Compo, Graphics Compo, Animation Compo. The most spectacular entries are shown on the big screen on Sunday and Monday evenings – audiovisual spectacles between art, code, and pop. In between, there are seminars, live coding sessions, and networking.
You don't have to code yourself to experience Revision. Tickets for spectators are available, and every Sunday afternoon at 1:30 PM, the E-Werk offers a free, one-hour guided tour – no registration needed, just meet at the main entrance. For many Saarbrücken residents, this is the only opportunity to experience the fascination of this scene.
Revision fits well with Saarland: a state transforming its industrial past (Völklingen Ironworks, Saar coal mines) into a digital future. In fact, Saarland University – with its Computer Science department and the Helmholtz Center CISPA – is one of Germany's most important AI and cybersecurity hubs. Revision connects with this environment: it's not just a festival, but a meeting point for a global community.
Revision 2026 starts on Good Friday, April 3, 2026, and ends on Easter Monday, April 6, 2026. The venue is E-Werk Saarbrücken on the Saarterrassen, organized by the association Tastatur und Maus e.V.
This year's motto is The Power Within. Compo uploads for participants will be enabled about two weeks before the event starts.
All compos will be livestreamed concurrently on YouTube and Twitch. Detailed timetable available shortly before the event at 2026.revision-party.net.
Tickets online via 2026.revision-party.net. Spectator tickets are cheaper than full participant tickets with a computer workstation. Early bird discounts available.
By train to Saarbrücken Hauptbahnhof, then take Saarbahn line 1 (towards Riegelsberg) to the Hauptfriedhof or Brebach stop. By car, take the A620 (exit Saarbrücken Burbach), follow signs for E-Werk.
Tickets exclusively online at 2026.revision-party.net. Various categories: Full ticket with computer workstation, Spectator ticket without desk, Day tickets. Early bird prices. Entry uploads for compo participants about two weeks before the event starts.
Many participants stay directly at the E-Werk in their sleeping spots. Those seeking hotel comfort will find numerous accommodations in Saarbrücken's St. Johann district or directly at the main train station.
The free public guided tour on Sunday at 1:30 PM is the easiest way to experience the festival without an entrance fee. The most spectacular compos are shown on the main screen in the evenings – tickets are worth it. Livestream available concurrently for free on YouTube.
