Volksfest with marquee, beer garden and amusement rides in Auenpark Marktredwitz
The Rawetzer Volksfestl – colloquially "Rawetzer" for Marktredwitz – is the summer folk festival of the Upper Franconian town of Marktredwitz in the Wunsiedel district of the Fichtelgebirge. It takes place in the Auenpark on Rößlermühlstraße and is considered a convivial, family-friendly counterpart to the big Bavarian folk festivals – not a mass spectacle, but a down-to-earth festival with local clubs, a traditional marquee, and a typical festival ground.
The focus is on the marquee with an adjoining beer garden. Here, Upper Franconian beer is served on tap, accompanied by bratwurst, fish on a stick, roast chicken, and Franconian delicacies. Live music is played in the evenings, while families enjoy the marquee with coffee and cake in the mornings and afternoons.
Classic amusement rides spin on the festival grounds: bumper cars, a carousel, Breakdance, a children's carousel, a trampoline, and a giant slide. Shooting galleries, throwing games, and game stalls complement the offerings – ideal for families with children who are experiencing the Volksfest atmosphere for the first time here.
The programme follows the classic five-day schedule of Upper Franconian folk festivals:
With around 17,000 inhabitants, Marktredwitz is a central town in northeastern Bavaria, on the border with the Czech Republic and in the southern foothills of the Fichtelgebirge. The town is known for its porcelain tradition, the annual Marktredwitz Wine Festival, and its role as an industrial and administrative city between Wunsiedel and Selb. The Rawetzer Volksfestl adds a classic, cosy summer festival to this identity.
The 2026 edition takes place from June 25th to 29th in the Auenpark Marktredwitz. The five-day folk festival follows the proven programme schedule: beer tapping, live concerts, DJ night, Frühschoppen, and family afternoon.
Upper Franconian beer is served on tap in the marquee, along with bratwurst, fish on a stick, and roast chicken. The live bands change over the weekend, and the DJ night on Saturday features current hits and 80s/90s classics.
Monday afternoon from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM is family time: all rides at half price. In the evening, the festival winds down with the participating clubs of the town.
