About Stadtfest Rain
Stadtfest Rain — edition 2026
For the 45th edition, Rain's main street will once again transform into a lively festival mile. The opening on Saturday afternoon will be marked by the starting shot fired by the Royal privileged marksmen's society (Königlich privilegierte Schützengesellschaft) Rain at Schwabentor, followed by the traditional parade and the ceremonial beer tapping by the First Mayor.
On both days, guests can expect a wide culinary offer ranging from fried mushrooms and Schupfnudeln to ox on a spit, as well as a varied stage program with beer garden atmosphere in Schlossstraße. For families, there will be a carousel, wheel of fortune, duck fishing, and crossbow shooting.

A Festival by Citizens for Citizens
The Rainer Stadtfest is one of the most popular festivals in the Donau-Ries district in the state of Bavaria. First celebrated in 1979, it was launched after the administrative reform to give the growing town a unifying center. It replaced the Volksfest (folk festival) previously held around Ascension Day and has been considered a 'festival by citizens for citizens' to this day – the entire organization is in the hands of Rain's clubs and businesses.
Opening with Tradition
The opening on Saturday afternoon is marked by the starting shot fired by the Royal privileged marksmen's society (Königlich privilegierte Schützengesellschaft) Rain at the Schwabentor. This is followed by the traditional parade with the patron, the city council, kindergartens, clubs, flag bearers, and brass bands through the festival grounds. Afterward, the First Mayor opens the festival with the ceremonial beer tapping.
Culinary Delights and Program
Around 40 to 45 stalls along the entire main street offer a diverse range of food and drinks for young and old. Specialties include fried mushrooms, Rahmfleck (cream flatbread), Schupfnudeln (potato noodles), Currywurst, fried trout, and ox on a spit, along with a wide selection of cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages. In Schlossstraße, a beer garden atmosphere with an entertaining stage program ensures a good mood. Attractions include crossbow shooting, goal wall shooting, wheel of fortune, duck fishing, a children's carousel, and traditional games like the nail stock.
International Guests
As every year, guests from the Hungarian partner town of Taksony participate with Hungarian specialties, dance, and music, underscoring the festival's international character.
