Dancehall in Hannover
Hannover, like many major German cities, has a small but very active Dancehall and Reggae scene. The RAGGA RAGGA Festival is its most important annual platform. The venue is Baggi, one of the established clubs in Hannover's city center with a program policy that includes Hip-Hop, RnB, Afrobeat, and Dancehall.
Lineup 2026
The headliner program includes three prominent acts:
- Charly Black: Jamaican Dancehall artist, known for hits like Gyal You A Party Animal. International top act with a large European fan base.
- Leftside: Jamaican singer and producer with an extensive discography and a long career in the riddim scene.
- Million Stylez: Swedish Reggae and Dancehall artist of Haitian descent. His hit Miss Fatty made him internationally known.
Sound System DJs
The live acts are complemented by DJ sets from renowned European sound systems:
- Ali Gee: British sound system DJ with many years of activity in the European scene
- King Kenny: Sound system player with his own riddim collection
- Phat Gyal: Female DJ in the European Dancehall scene
- Mikedogg: Sound system DJ and promoter
Format and Atmosphere
The festival runs in the typical Dancehall tradition: live performances by the headliners, interspersed with long DJ sets combining classics and current tunes, occasional sound clashes between the sound system DJs, and an engaged audience that dances along, shouts along, and significantly shapes the atmosphere. Baggi offers the club size that allows for an intense, intimate Dancehall atmosphere.
Ragga Ragga Festival — edition 2026
The festival follows the classic Dancehall format: live performances by the headliners are connected by long DJ sets, mixing classics and new riddims. Sound clashes between DJs are a traditional part of the scene and are usually performed later in the evening.
The audience is part of the action: dancing along, shouting along, and actively reacting to riddims are part of Dancehall culture and are explicitly welcomed by the organizer.
