When stalls are set up on Münster's Promenade — the green avenue that encircles the city center as a former rampart — it's flea market season. Five times a year, Messe und Congress Centrum Halle Münsterland GmbH transforms the stretch between Aasee lake and the castle into the region's largest flea market. In 2026, the dates are May 9, June 19 (Summer Night Flea Market), June 20 (commercial), August 15, and September 19. Private sellers, commercial exhibitors, and a dedicated children's area — and in June, the nighttime highlight.

Getting There

Promenade Münster, entrance from the castle or from Aasee lake. By train to Münster main station, then a 10-minute walk to the Promenade. Münster is the ultimate cycling city — arriving by bike is recommended.

The Promenade — Münster's Green Ring

The Münsteraner Promenade is a cultural-historical gem: a 4.5-kilometer-long avenue of lime trees, forming a green ring precisely where the city fortifications stood until the 18th century. Today, it's one of Germany's most beautiful routes for cycling and walking, lined with the castle, Aasee lake, Zwinger, and historic fountains. It's precisely here, five times a year, that the Promenadenflohmarkt takes place — extending along the entire avenue.
