About Preetzer Frühjahrsmarkt
Preetzer Frühjahrsmarkt — edition 2026
From May 15th to 17th, 2026, it's time again: the Preetzer Frühjahrsmarkt transforms Cathrinplatz into a colourful funfair for three days. Showmen set up rides, shooting galleries, food stalls, and carousels in the heart of the Shoemaker Town, while thousands of visitors from Preetz, the Plön district, and the greater Kiel area arrive.
The main attraction of this year's edition is a 15-meter-high balloon ride, celebrating its Schleswig-Holstein premiere in Preetz. In addition, classics like dodgems, Super Scooter, Wischscheibenscooter, and Carwash provide sporty thrills. Families with children will find their own carousels and game stalls.

The Shoemaker Town Celebrates Spring
Preetz, with the nickname Schusterstadt (Shoemaker Town), is located in the Plön district in the state of Schleswig-Holstein and has been known for its shoemaking craft since the 19th century. The town has around 16,000 inhabitants and is the centre of a small but lively catchment area south of the state capital Kiel. The Frühjahrsmarkt is a permanent fixture in the town's event calendar and has been celebrated for generations around Ascension Day in May.
Three Days of Fairground Fun in the Middle of Town
The venue is the central Cathrinplatz, nestled in the old town between Kirchenstraße and Hufenweg. The showmen set up their stalls and rides right in the heart of the town — a format that combines the atmosphere of the historic Shoemaker Town with the lights, scents, and sounds of a classic Volksfest. The typical mix of Ferris wheel, dodgems, shooting gallery, and carousel is complemented by new attractions every year.
Highlights and New Attractions 2026
The 2026 edition will feature, among other things, a 15-meter-high balloon ride, celebrating its Schleswig-Holstein premiere in Preetz. In addition, classics like the Wischscheibenscooter, the Carwash ride, and the Super Scooter will provide adrenaline for young and young-at-heart.
Family-Friendly and Free Entry
Admission to the fairground is free; individual rides and stalls are paid for separately. With the colourful string of lights across the square, the typical scents of roasted almonds, crêpes, and bratwurst, and the cheerful hustle and bustle, the Preetzer Frühjahrsmarkt is a classic family outing for thousands of North Germans.
