Pre-Christmas — before Advent

The name Pre-Christmas refers to the market's strategic positioning: while most Christmas markets open from the 1st Advent, Visbek deliberately sets its event before Advent — Thursday to Saturday of the week before the 1st Advent weekend. This earlier timing creates its own date, not competing with the major Christmas markets in the region (Vechta, Lohne, Holdorf), and gets the people of Visbek into the mood of Advent anticipation.

Visbek Macht e.V. as Organizer

As with the Summer Market and Wine Festival, the Marketing Initiative Visbek Macht e.V. is the organizer. The association connects retailers, gastronomy, clubs, and the municipality of Visbek, creating a central platform with the Pre-Christmas Market for the pre-Christmas retail kickoff and social gatherings.

Three Market Days

Spreading the event over Thursday, Friday, and Saturday allows for different visitor profiles: Thursday evening as an after-work market for professionals, Friday as a second weekday date with additional after-work attendees, and Saturday as a major family and shopping day with the full program.

Market Offerings and Program

Exhibitors offer Christmas gift items, Advent wreaths, Christmas tree decorations, floristry, crafts, honey, jams, liqueurs, and regional specialties. Clubs operate catering stands with mulled wine, punch, children's punch, bratwurst, and potato pancakes. Musical contributions from local choirs, brass bands, and schools provide the appropriate pre-Christmas atmosphere.
