About Pottery Market Frontenhausen

The Frontenhausen Pottery Market is one of Lower Bavaria's most established ceramics markets. Over two days in early June, more than 30 potters, ceramicists, and studios from Germany, Austria, and Hungary present their work at the "Oidn Buamaschui" – the old boys' school in the heart of Frontenhausen. Raku, porcelain, tableware, and garden ceramics meet children's pottery workshops and a family-friendly atmosphere.

Tradition for over four decades

The Pottery Market Frontenhausen will be in its 44th edition in early June 2026 – an exceptional milestone for a ceramics market in a small Lower Bavarian market town. The market has been organized for decades by Peter Wulff in collaboration with the market town of Frontenhausen, embedded in the Lower Bavarian pottery center with the neighboring artist village of Jakobstal.

Over 30 exhibitors from three countries

The exhibitors come primarily from Germany, Austria, and Hungary. Workshops and studios with specializations in:

  • Raku ceramics – the characteristic open-fired glazes of Japanese tradition
  • Porcelain and fine tableware
  • Garden ceramics and sculpture
  • Everyday tableware with artisanal craftsmanship
  • Artistic ceramics and unique pieces

New exhibitors in 2026 include Julia Winterstein and Lisa Zech, among others.

Program and childcare

The program deliberately focuses on interaction. On Saturday afternoon, the mayor will lead a tour of the market together with patron Renate Bumeder; on both days, children can work at the potter's wheel themselves in a pedagogically supervised pottery workshop. The Frohsinn-Schützen Frontenhausen provide catering at family-friendly prices.

Frontenhausen and the Lower Bavarian pottery village of Jakobstal

Frontenhausen is located in the district of Dingolfing-Landau in Lower Bavaria (Bavaria), at the beginning of the Isar-Vils hill country. With the district of Jakobstal, the town hosts one of the most renowned ceramic workshop communities in Southern Germany around Andrea Wulff – the creative nucleus from which the market originated over four decades ago.
