One of Bavaria's most beautiful traditional costume markets in the Allgäu holiday resort of Pfronten
The Pfrontener Trachtenmarkt is one of the most beautiful and largest traditional costume markets in Bavaria. In the Allgäu holiday resort of Pfronten, located in the Ostallgäu district of Bavaria, the district of Pfronten-Ried transforms around the St. Nikolaus parish hall into a lively meeting point for everyone who loves and lives traditional costume.
More than 50 exhibitors present high-quality products related to Allgäu traditional costume:
A special attraction of the market is the old craftsmanship that comes alive on site: Gamsbart binders, deer antler carvers, and edelweiss carvers demonstrate their skills, and you can watch bobbin lacemaking at the local history museum. Free traditional costume advice is available for anyone looking to supplement or put together their outfit.
Folk music and folk dance accompany the market activities in the indoor and outdoor areas throughout the day. Concerts by local music bands, alphorn blowers, and performances by local traditional costume groups create an atmospheric Allgäu ambiance. On Sundays, there is also a traditional costume fashion show.
The Pfrontener Trachtenmarkt is much more than a sales event – it is a commitment to lived traditional costume culture in the Allgäu region that makes the hearts of traditional costume lovers beat faster. Admission is free.
