Volksfest atmosphere on the Anger
When the first rides are set up around the Anger – the central village green – at Pentecost, the Pfingstvolksfest begins in Leupoldsgrün. The small community, with around 1,300 inhabitants, located on the southern edge of the Frankenwald in the Hof district, transforms into a colorful festival arena for families from the entire Hof region for three days.
The "Am Anger" Square
The venue is the central village square "Am Anger", which was redesigned in 2016 under the name "Zukunft am Anger" (Future on the Anger) – featuring an information pavilion, free parking spaces, a motorhome pitch, and an e-bike charging station. This square has since become the heart of village life and is an ideal festival site, framed by the parish church, the town hall, and the old village pond.
Rides and Children's Program
The program is clearly aimed at families: classic carousels, a bungee trampoline, the Kontiki raft by showman Keven Wittig for the more adventurous, and various children's rides are available. The Leupoldsgrün kindergarten runs a face-painting stand where the little ones can be transformed into butterflies, tigers, or pirates. A special offer: On Saturday afternoon from 2 PM to 4 PM, all rides cost a flat rate of only €2 – a festival highlight specifically aimed at families.
Delicacies and Sociable Atmosphere
On the culinary side, local clubs and restaurateurs provide the catering: bratwurst from a charcoal grill, steaks, pizza, crêpes, fries, ice cream, and a candy stand. The Franconian beer comes from the nearby Hof region. The atmosphere is familial and relaxed – not a bustling Volksfest, but a genuine village festival with Pentecost spirit in the Frankenwald.
Hof, Frankenwald, and Vogtland
Leupoldsgrün is located in the Frankenwald Nature Park, not far from the city of Hof and close to the Thuringian-Vogtland border. The hilly low mountain range landscape invites you to go hiking and cycling at Pentecost – the Pfingstfest is therefore also a welcome occasion for day-trippers from Hof, Münchberg, Helmbrechts, and the surrounding region. Leupoldsgrün belongs to the Hof district in the Upper Franconia administrative region.
Pfingstfest Leupoldsgrün — edition 2026
The premiere of the newly conceived Pfingstvolksfest will take place from Saturday, May 23, to Pentecost Monday, May 25, 2026, on the Anger in the center of Leupoldsgrün. The festival replaces the previous smaller Pentecost weekend and brings showmen, rides, and an expanded catering market to Leupoldsgrün for the first time.
Classic carousels, a bungee trampoline, and the popular Kontiki raft by showman Keven Wittig will be available on the festival grounds. The local kindergarten runs a face-painting stand where the little ones can be transformed into animals, pirates, or butterflies free of charge. Culinary offerings include bratwurst and steaks from a charcoal grill, pizza, crêpes, fries, ice cream, and sweets.
Opening on Saturday at 2 PM. Until 4 PM, the special price of €2 per ride applies to all rides – a targeted offer for families. Sunday and Pentecost Monday open from 11 AM until the evening.

Getting There
By car via the A9 (Munich–Berlin), exit Berg/Bad Steben or Hof-Süd, then take the federal road towards Leupoldsgrün. Free parking is available at the Anger and in the side streets. By train: Hof Hbf station, then continue by bus (line 8003) to Leupoldsgrün.
Admission and Prices
Admission to the festival grounds is free. Rides and children's carousels are paid for individually (€3-5 per ride). Saturday 2 PM-4 PM: all rides €2. Food and drinks at usual Volksfest prices.
Motorhome Pitch
A free motorhome pitch is available directly at the Anger – ideal for travelers who want to spend the long Pentecost weekend in the Frankenwald.
