About Pfaffendorfer Pfingst-Kirmes

For generations, the Pfaffendorfer Pfingst-Kirmes has been the social highlight in the Koblenz district of Pfaffendorf. Organized by the Beautification Association Pfaffendorf (VVV), the Kirmes (fair) combines tradition, club life, and exuberant marquee atmosphere over the Pentecost weekend. On the festival grounds high above the Rhine, with views of Ehrenbreitstein Fortress and the Deutsches Eck, families, young people, and seniors meet for four days of live music, a Corpus Christi procession, a parade, a beer pong tournament, a darts competition, and hospitality provided by the Pfaffendorf clubs.

The Pfaffendorfer Pfingst-Kirmes is one of Koblenz's liveliest district festivals, attracting visitors from across the city and the heights on the right bank of the Rhine every Pentecost. The organizer is the traditional Beautification Association Pfaffendorf e.V. (VVV), which hosts the festival in close cooperation with the St. Peter and Paul parish and numerous Pfaffendorf clubs.

Pentecost in Pfaffendorf

The Pfaffendorf district is located on the right bank of the Rhine in Koblenz, directly opposite the old town. The Kirmes takes advantage of the festive character of the Pentecost weekend: for four days, the festival grounds transform into a meeting point for young and old. A characteristic feature is the mix of religious tradition – with the High Mass on Pentecost Sunday and the Corpus Christi procession – and an exuberant marquee atmosphere with live music late into the night.

Program Highlights and Competitions

In addition to food, dancing, and rides for children, the Kirmes has established several recurring highlights. These include the popular Beer Pong Tournament, with registration via the VVV, a Darts Competition, the grand parade through Pfaffendorf, and the morning pint on Pentecost Sunday. The Kirmes societies and clubs from Pfaffendorf work together to use the proceeds for the beautification and maintenance of the district.

District Culture and Cohesion

The Beautification Association Pfaffendorf has existed since the 19th century and, in addition to the Kirmes, is also responsible for planting initiatives, maintaining historic wayside crosses, district tours, and cultural encounters. The Pentecost Kirmes is the most important source of income and, at the same time, the most visible symbol of the cohesion of the Pfaffendorf citizenry.

Location with a View

Pfaffendorf is easily accessible from Koblenz Main Station via the Pfaffendorf Bridge and city bus line 8 in just a few minutes. Those who wish to take a stroll before or after the Kirmes will find viewpoints in the district offering views of the Deutsches Eck, the Moselle River, and Ehrenbreitstein Fortress.
