Traditional marksmen's and folk festival of the Zorge Marksmen's Association in the southern Harz
The Schützenfest Zorge is one of the central traditional events in the Zorge municipality in the southern Harz foothills. The organizer is the Zorge Marksmen's Association, which, with around 200 active members annually, is one of the most important clubs in the local community. The venue is the traditional Zorge Schützenhaus with a shooting range and an adjoining festival hall.
The centerpiece of the Schützenfest is the bird shooting, where the new majesties – the marksmen's king, ladies' queen, and youth king – are determined. The king proclamation on the festival Saturday is a highlight for the club members and the entire village audience.
The festive parade of the marksmen's companies through Zorge is one of the visual highlights. Accompanied by brass bands, club flags, and friendly marksmen's associations from the South Harz region, the companies march through the town in uniform. The dance evenings in the festival hall are staged with changing live bands or dance orchestras and attract a cross-generational audience.
The family day is aimed at children and families with a children's shooting event, games, and catering. The traditional morning pint with brass music marks the conclusion of the festival weekend and brings the community together again for a convivial gathering.
The 2026 edition continues the multi-day Schützenfest tradition. The program will be planned by the board of the Zorge Marksmen's Association in coordination with friendly clubs and brass bands.
The exact program for 2026 will be announced by the organizer in advance. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
