Palatinate Guests at the Munich Residenz
In the heart of Munich's Old Town, framed by the walls of the former Wittelsbach Residenz, the Palatinate Wine Festival has been one of Bavaria's most beautiful summer events for almost three decades. For ten days, the Kaiserhof of the Residenz – the historic Palatinate Court – transforms into a miniature wine route.
Eight Wineries, Over 80 Wines
Spearheaded by Vier Jahreszeiten Winzer eG from Bad Dürkheim, it brings seven other Palatinate wineries to Munich. In total, the eight establishments will be pouring over 80 wines from the German Wine Route: from light Saumagen companions and Rieslings from the Middle and Southern Palatinate to powerful Spätburgunder and top-class Cuvées. The pavilions are lined up like pearls – an allusion to the shape of the German Wine Route between Bockenheim and Schweigen-Rechtenbach.
Culinary Delights: Palatinate Specialties
Palatinate food pairs perfectly with the wine. Saumagen (stuffed pig's stomach), Leberknödel (liver dumplings), Bratwurst (sausage), Flammkuchen (flatbread), Winzersteaks (vintner's steaks), and variations of Pfälzer Saumagen are offered, along with sweet specialties. In Munich, the capital of Bavarian beer culture, this culinary wine break is a long-awaited event.
Music Program
From Monday to Saturday, regional bands play live music of all styles from the early evening. The two Sundays of the festival – July 26 and August 2, 2026 – are reserved for Jazz Brunch Matinees starting at 11 am: a format that has become a firm meeting point for the Munich jazz scene over the years.
Residenz and Urban Space
The Kaiserhof is one of the most beautiful courtyards of the Munich Residenz, one of the largest city palaces in Europe. Right next door: Hofgarten, Odeonsplatz, Theatinerkirche. The wine festival is part of Munich's summer program, alongside Tollwood, City Birthday celebrations, and summer concerts in the Olympic Park. Free admission, no obligation to purchase – what counts is the atmosphere.
