Norderstedt's big spring festival on May 1st with stage, ParkSportDay and Volunteer Fair
ParkErwachen is one of the largest spring festivals in the north of Hamburg and has shaped the Stadtpark calendar for years: Every year on May 1st, the new park season opens with a day festival that appeals equally to families, sports enthusiasts, and culture lovers. Norderstedt is located in the district of Segeberg in the state of Schleswig-Holstein, directly north of Hamburg — the Stadtpark, with its lake landscape, outdoor pool, and Kulturwerk, is one of the central recreational areas of the metropolitan region.
The festival is divided into several program components that run in parallel throughout the day:
Since 2024, a Volunteer Fair has complemented the program: Clubs, aid organizations, initiatives, and volunteer groups from Norderstedt present their work and recruit participants. A low-threshold opportunity for interested parties to learn about local social engagement.
With around 12,000 visitors, ParkErwachen is one of the biggest crowd-pullers in Norderstedt. Admission is free — a conscious decision to attract families and residents without barriers. The event is supported by Stadtwerke Norderstedt and other local partners.
The Stadtpark Norderstedt was created for the 2011 State Garden Show and has since developed into one of the most beautiful urban parks in Schleswig-Holstein: lakes, playgrounds, an outdoor pool, a lake promenade, sculptures, and the Kulturwerk as an event building form the centerpiece. Numerous events take place here in the summer — ParkErwachen kicks off the season, followed by open-air concerts, summer cinema, festivals, and markets.
The 2026 edition is confirmed on the official Stadtpark website and by Stadtwerke Norderstedt. As in previous years, the festival takes place between 12 PM and 5 PM, with focal points at the Strandbad (ParkSportDay), the main stage, and the lake promenade.
With around 12,000 expected visitors, ParkErwachen is one of the biggest spring events in the greater Hamburg-South Holstein area and the traditional kick-off for Norderstedt's outdoor season.
