About Park Food Festival
Park Food Festival — edition 2026
10th Park Food Festival 2026 — Anniversary Edition
The 10th edition in 2026 marks a special occasion: a decade of Remscheid street food festival tradition. With an expanded program (four days instead of the previous three), a proven selection of stalls, and the traditional Saturday fireworks, the festival offers a concentrated street food experience in the Bergisches Land. The opening on Ascension Day with a DJ program makes the date a Father's Day outing, while the weekend brings families and gastronomy lovers to the festival.

10 Years Park Food Festival — Remscheid Street Food Tradition
If you love street food in the western Bergisches Land region, you probably know the Park Food Festival Remscheid. The annual street food festival, organized by Remscheid restaurateur Markus Kärst (Hotel Kromberg), is running for the tenth time in 2026 — a remarkable consistency for a festival format that has disappeared in many German cities in recent years. The success story of the Remscheid Park Food Festival: proven location, high-quality selection of exhibitors, clear identity promise — street food diversity in a relaxed park atmosphere, free admission.
Date 2026 — Ascension Day to the Eve of Whit Sunday
The 10th edition in 2026 runs for four days:
- Thursday, May 14, 2026 — Ascension Day (Father's Day): 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- Friday, May 15, 2026: 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- Saturday, May 16, 2026: 12:00 PM – 10:00 PM — Fireworks in the evening
- Sunday, May 17, 2026: 12:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Stadtpark Remscheid — The Festival Scenery
The venue is the Stadtpark Remscheid around the Hotel Kromberg — a spacious park area in the center of Remscheid. The Stadtpark offers the ideal street food festival atmosphere: lawns for picnic blankets, trees for shade, hotel terrace as support infrastructure. Picnic blankets and seat cushions are explicitly welcome — the festival atmosphere should be lounge-like, not stiff. Those who bring their own blanket will find their spot on the grass.
Over 30 Street Food Stalls
The offer includes over 30 stalls with food 'grilled, fried, smoked, and rolled':
- Burgers: Smash burgers, organic burgers, classic cheeseburgers
- Sweet potato specialties
- Suckling pig sandwiches — a Bergisches Land classic
- Tacos — Mexican street food classics
- Dim Sum — Asian steamed bites
- Colombian specialties — Empanadas, Arepas
- Bubble Waffles — Asian trend
- Crêpes in sweet and savory varieties
- Cheesecakes in various flavors
- Churros — Spanish fried sweet specialty
The diversity covers international street food classics plus regional specialties — families can sample the range of stalls on the Father's Day opening.
Program — DJs, Bands, Fireworks
In addition to street food, there is a live program:
- Ascension Day (May 14th, from 12:00 PM): DJ program with DJ Marcel Filodda and DJ Jannik — Father's Day party kickoff
- Friday (May 15th, from 6:30 PM): Jim Rockford Band — Live concert
- Saturday (May 16th): Fireworks in the evening as a visual highlight
- Sunday (May 17th, 7:00 PM–10:00 PM): Privacy — Live band
Ascension Day Father's Day Party
The kickoff on Ascension Day (Father's Day) is strategically well-chosen. Father's Day is a classic day out for men in Germany, with many male groups walking through the city with handcarts. The Park Food Festival offers this target group an attractive destination with cold beer, hearty street food, a DJ program, and a relaxed park atmosphere. Families follow in the afternoon — a cross-generational celebration.
Fireworks on Saturday Evening
The highlight of the entire four-day event is the fireworks on Saturday evening. While most street food festivals manage without fireworks, Remscheid relies on this visual peak moment — the fireworks are launched over the Stadtpark and are optimally visible from the festival lawn. For many visitors, Saturday evening is the main visiting day precisely because of the fireworks.
Free Admission — Proven Model
Like all previous editions, admission in 2026 is free. The festival is financed entirely by gastronomy — exhibitors pay stall fees, visitors spend money at the stalls. This low-threshold strategy is one of the festival's success factors: no entry barrier, free choice of which stalls to visit, families can also come with a small budget and afford their favorite specialties.
