A Summer Celebration Between Sweden and the Rhineland

With "Midsommar Heinsberg," the city of Heinsberg in the Heinsberg district has established its own city festival format, combining Swedish Midsummer traditions with Rhenish joie de vivre. In 2026, the event will be held over two days for the first time — with a big concert on Friday evening and the classic festival day on Saturday. The concept has proven successful: around the summer solstice, the Westpromenade along the Wurm river transforms into a festival mile.

Friday, June 26, 2026 — Querbeat Concert

Querbeat, the eleven-piece Brass-Pop collective, is considered "one of the most successful and energetic live bands in Germany." With a mix of Funk, Pop, Latin beats, and Cologne brass tradition, the ensemble delivers a high-energy concert experience. Tickets via Ticketmaster.de — the event is ticketed.

Saturday, June 27, 2026 — Festival Day

From 5:00 PM, the Westpromenade opens as a free festival day:

Drones Instead of Fireworks

A special feature of Midsommar Heinsberg: Instead of classic aerial fireworks, the event relies on a modern drone show. Synchronized LED drones form figures, lettering, and animated images in the night sky — firework-free, sustainable, quiet. An environmentally conscious alternative that fits the festival's identity.

Westpromenade as a Festival Mile

The Westpromenade along the Wurm river is one of Heinsberg's most beautiful urban spaces — a landscaped promenade with water, trees, and seating areas. Perfect for an open-air city festival. The stage will be set up on a central section, with food trucks and drink stands distributed along the promenade.

Heinsberg in the Far West of NRW

Heinsberg is the district capital of the Heinsberg district in the far west of North Rhine-Westphalia, on the Dutch border. With around 41,000 inhabitants, it is manageable but economically significant (logistics, medium-sized businesses). The city is located between Aachen, Roermond (NL), and Mönchengladbach — a classic border region.
