On June 28, 2026, garage doors will open in Dorstadt: where cars usually stand, you'll find tables full of household items, clothes racks with used clothing, boxes of toys and tools. The garage flea market concept has established itself in many Lower Saxony communities in recent years, combining two advantages: sellers don't have to transport anything, and buyers experience authentic village life.

Treasure hunt from street to street

Instead of visiting a central marketplace, shoppers wander through the streets of the Dorstadt district. A map with participating addresses is usually available at several points. Those with time can spend the entire morning and afternoon exploring and gain a beautiful impression of village life in the Samtgemeinde Oderwald along the way.

Catering at the fire station

The local fire station is the central meeting point, offering coffee, homemade cakes, sausages, and drinks. Residents and guests meet here for short breaks, exchange information about their finds, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere. The proceeds from catering benefit the volunteer fire department, flowing back into the village community.
