50 Years of Hocketse — A Golden Anniversary

From Friday, July 31, to Sunday, August 2, 2026, Leutenbach in the Remstal valley will celebrate its 50th Hocketse. The Hocketse, the quintessential Swabian street festival, has been a tradition in Leutenbach since the late 1970s — at Spatzenhof, a small square in the town center, thousands of visitors gather annually on the first weekend of the summer holidays for three days of catering, music, and conviviality. The 50th edition is a double occasion for celebration: municipal history and club life combined.

Organizing Committee: Municipality + Clubs

The Hocketse is organized by the Musikverein Leutenbach e.V. in close cooperation with the municipality of Leutenbach and local clubs — sports clubs, fire department, church communities, youth club, Liederkranz. Each club runs a catering stand, and together they build the stages, arrange seating, and set up the festival infrastructure. This community of clubs is the backbone of the festival — it makes the Hocketse an authentic club festival without commercial showmen.

Music on Two Stages

The musical program plays on two stages: The main stage at Spatzenhof features cover bands, party bands, and occasional tribute acts; the small side stage is a platform for local music clubs, the Liederkranz Leutenbach, and youth bands. The spectrum ranges from brass classics to Schlager, pop, and rock covers — a typical Hocketse program that appeals to the whole family.

Opening with Free Beer

A special tradition: At the festival opening on Friday evening, the first beer kegs are tapped — and the beer is free. A gesture from the organizers to the guests, and at the same time the starting signal for three days of festivities full of conviviality. Those who arrive on time will enjoy the free beer — afterwards, drinks are served at the standard price.

Leutenbach — A Municipality in the Remstal

Leutenbach, with around 8,800 inhabitants, is a municipality in the Rems-Murr district, located in the southwestern Remstal valley between Backnang and Winnenden. It is known for its viticulture (the areas around the town are part of the Württemberg wine-growing region), its intact village structure, and its active club scene. The Hocketse is the most important summer festival of the year — and with its 50th anniversary in 2026, it is a piece of living municipal history.

Leutenbacher Hocketse — edition 2026

The 50th Leutenbacher Hocketse runs from July 31 to August 2, 2026, at Spatzenhof Leutenbach. Golden anniversary of the traditional street festival on the first weekend of the Baden-Württemberg summer holidays. Music on two stages, catering by the Leutenbach clubs, and free beer at the opening on Friday. Organizers: Musikverein Leutenbach e.V. and the municipality of Leutenbach. Free admission.

Golden Anniversary at Spatzenhof

The 50th Leutenbacher Hocketse runs from Friday, July 31, to Sunday, August 2, 2026, at Spatzenhof. Three days of festivities to kick off the Baden-Württemberg summer holidays — the typical timing for a Hocketse that has taken place on this exact weekend since the late 1970s. The community of clubs, comprising the music association, sports clubs, fire department, church communities, youth club, and Liederkranz, sets up, runs the stands, and provides the program.

The main stage at Spatzenhof features cover bands and party music, while the side stage hosts local clubs. Swabian specialties — Maultaschen, Bratwurst, fries, Schupfnudeln — along with beer, wine, coffee, and cake, cater to the visitors. On Friday, free beer flows at the opening — a tradition for decades.
