Vintage Car Tradition in Osterode's Old Town
The OTTO – Oldtimer and Taxi Meet Osterode is the most important vintage car event in the western Harz region. The venue is the Kornmarkt with the adjacent city centre areas – an unusually central location for a vintage car meet, which usually takes place on outdoor grounds. This central positioning right in the heart of Osterode's old town significantly shapes the character of the event.
Concept and Organizers
The organizer is the Oldtimerclub Osterode, which has been voluntarily hosting the meet for over two decades. The 26th edition marks an established tradition. The character is deliberately non-commercial: no registration required, no stand fees for exhibitors, no admission fee for visitors.
Vehicle Spectrum
Vehicles at least 20 years old are permitted – thus, in addition to classic vintage cars (30 years and older), youngtimers (20 to 30 years) are also eligible. The spectrum ranges from pre-war cars, German classics from the 50s to 80s, American land yachts, British sports cars, and French saloons to cult models from the 90s and early 2000s. The addition of "Taxi-Treffen" (Taxi Meet) refers to the special theme of historic taxi vehicles, which is particularly cherished in Osterode.
Sunday Shopping
In parallel with the vintage car meet, there is Sunday shopping in Osterode's city centre. Shops and restaurants take advantage of the visitor flow for extended weekend business, making the event the most significant gastronomic and tourist draw on a September Sunday for the city.
