Concerts, Party and Urban Art at the former industrial harbour
The Saarbrücken Osthafen is a piece of Saarland's industrial history: once a transhipment point for heavy industry on the Saar, today a cultural area managed by the Kulturgut Ost collective. Brick halls, cranes, silos, and open harbour areas form a raw, photogenic backdrop – precisely the right environment for an urban festival.
Three pillars of programming define the Osthafenfest. Firstly, the concerts: regional and national acts from indie, pop, hip-hop, reggae, and electronic music play on a main outdoor stage. Secondly, the parties: in halls like Silo Dom or Sektor Heimat, resident DJs and guests spin tunes late into the night. Thirdly, the urban art: graffiti artists paint live, sculptures and installations are erected, and light projections transform the industrial buildings into canvases.
The festival has established itself in recent years as a fixture in Saarbrücken's event calendar. It's a family festival on Saturday afternoon, a concert evening in the early hours, and a club night from 11 p.m. – all in one area, within walking distance of Saarbrücken's main train station.
Behind the festival is Kulturgut Ost with its venues Silo Dom (electronic) and Sektor Heimat, along with other partners. The organizer sees the festival as the highlight of its annual programme and uses it to make the concept of industrial culture renaissance in Saarland visible – similar to how Völklingen Ironworks has long been a tradition in Saarland as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Saarbrücken (Saarbrücken Regional Association) has been undergoing a transformation for years: former industrial sites are being converted into residential, cultural, and creative districts. The Osthafenfest is a cultural translation of this change and one of the reasons why Saarbrücken, despite its modest size, is taken seriously as a cultural city in the southwest.
The Osthafenfest 2026 spans three days and multiple stages: outdoor concerts on the main stage by the water, club programming in Silo Dom (electronic) and Sektor Heimat, and an urban art zone with live painting and installations. The organizer is the Kulturgut Ost collective.
Specific artist names will be announced in spring 2026 on kulturgut-ost.com/programm and the Instagram channels @kulturgutost, @silodom.official, and @sektorheimat.
Free admission for the outdoor programme. Indoor parties require separate tickets depending on the event.

Free admission for the outdoor programme. Individual indoor parties may require a ticket.
Sturdy footwear – the industrial area has rough surfaces. Come after dark to see the light art. Can be easily combined with a city stroll through St. Johann.
