About Osnabrück 6-Hour Run

The Osnabrück 6-Hour Run celebrates its tenth anniversary on August 22, 2026. On a flat, shaded circuit around the Rubbenbruchsee, solo runners and teams will run as many laps as possible for six hours. The run is a charity event for the HelpAge campaign 'Jede Oma zählt' (Every Grandma Counts), which supports older women worldwide. Sports, social engagement, and a relaxed atmosphere by the lake make this event a fixture in the Osnabrück running scene, attracting both hobby and competitive athletes.

Six Hours, One Lake, One Good Cause

The Osnabrück 6-Hour Run combines popular sport and solidarity in an unusual format. Instead of fixed distances, the number of laps completed within six hours is counted. The race starts in the morning at Barenteich, with the course leading around the Rubbenbruchsee, one of the most popular local recreation areas in the 'City of Peace'. Asphalt and trail sections alternate on a scenic, largely flat route.

Charity for HelpAge

Every entry fee goes to the campaign 'Jede Oma zählt' by the international aid organization HelpAge Deutschland. It supports older women in crisis regions with microcredits, medical care, and educational programs. The charity aspect has been central to the 6-Hour Run since its inception and explains the steadily growing number of participants from clubs, running groups, and families.

Anniversary Edition 2026

The 10th edition on August 22, 2026, is set to be particularly festive: an expanded catering point, live music in the finish area, and a family program around the start/finish grounds. Solo runners compete individually, while teams participate as relays. Walking is explicitly welcome, as are Nordic walkers.

Side Program

Around the start and finish area at Barenteich, club tents, sponsor stands, and culinary offerings invite visitors to linger. Children can play on the adjacent playground while parents or grandparents complete their laps.

Rubbenbruchsee as Osnabrück's Sporting Heart

With a circumference of just under three kilometers, the lake offers an ideal circuit. Shade, water for cooling off, and proximity to nature make the course attractive even in summer temperatures. The combination of sporting challenge, social commitment, and festive atmosphere has made the 6-Hour Run a hallmark of Osnabrück's running culture.

Osnabrück 6-Hour Run — edition 2026

The tenth edition of the Osnabrück 6-Hour Run takes place on August 22, 2026, at the Rubbenbruchsee. Six hours, a circuit around the lake, three categories — Solo, Relay, and Walking. All charity proceeds go entirely to the HelpAge campaign 'Jede Oma zählt'. For the anniversary, there will be expanded catering, live music in the finish area, and a family program at Barenteich.
