Four organists at the Lamberti organ — Thomas Ospital, Frédéric Blanc, Karol Mossakowski and Tobias Götting
The organ concert Parisian Organists in the Lambertikirche Oldenburg brings together four outstanding organists from the French capital in one evening. Thomas Ospital (Titular Organist of Saint-Eustache), Frédéric Blanc (Titular Organist of Notre-Dame d'Auteuil), Karol Mossakowski (Titular Organist of Saint-Sulpice), and Oldenburg's Tobias Götting will perform a program on the main organ of the Lambertikirche on May 21, 2026, at 7:30 PM.
The encounter is exceptional: three of the most important organists from the Parisian church music scene will perform together with a representative of the North German tradition. The program combines French symphonic organ literature with the North German organ school — a dramaturgical dialogue between Parisian High Romanticism and Oldenburg's present.
Thomas Ospital has been one of France's most sought-after younger organists worldwide for years. As titular organist of the major Parisian church Saint-Eustache, he shapes a style that combines virtuosic improvisation with interpretative clarity. Frédéric Blanc, titular organist of Notre-Dame d'Auteuil, is considered one of the most important representatives of the French symphonic tradition in the lineage of Maurice Duruflé. Karol Mossakowski, titular organist of Saint-Sulpice, follows in the tradition of Charles-Marie Widor and Marcel Dupré and is among the most prominent voices on today's Parisian organ scene. Tobias Götting completes the quartet as the regional representative — the exact distribution of works will be communicated with the program of Lamberti Church Music.
The Parisian organ tradition shaped the 19th and 20th centuries like few others: Cavaillé-Coll organs, the symphonic organ literature of Wagner, Saint-Saëns, Franck, Widor, Vierne, Dupré, and Duruflé, as well as a tradition of improvisation that is still alive today. In Oldenburg, an evening at the Lamberti organ becomes an approach to this tradition — both in the works performed and in the direct encounter with three current Parisian titular organists.
The Lambertikirche in the center of Oldenburg is one of the most important concert venues on the North German church music scene. Its main organ offers sonic space for works of French and German organ literature alike. The St. Lamberti Church Music regularly organizes concert series with international soloists.
Tobias Götting is rooted in Oldenburg as an organist and church musician. His participation in the Parisian Organists' evening establishes the connection to the North German tradition and creates the bridge that makes this program more than just a guest concert series.
On Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 7:30 PM, four organists will perform a concert program featuring works of French and North German organ literature at the Lambertikirche Oldenburg. Three of the four soloists come from Paris: Thomas Ospital (Saint-Eustache), Frédéric Blanc (Notre-Dame d'Auteuil), and Karol Mossakowski (Saint-Sulpice). The quartet is completed by Oldenburg's Tobias Götting.
This encounter is considered one of the most significant organ events of Spring 2026 in Northern Germany. With Ospital, Blanc, and Mossakowski, three titular organists of central Parisian churches perform together on a North German organ — a constellation rarely seen in this form.
Thomas Ospital, titular organist of Saint-Eustache since 2015, is one of the most internationally sought-after younger organ soloists. Frédéric Blanc, long-time titular organist of Notre-Dame d'Auteuil and carrier of Duruflé's tradition, combines performance practice and improvisation. Karol Mossakowski, titular organist of Saint-Sulpice, represents the great Parisian school tradition of Widor and Dupré. Tobias Götting, established in Oldenburg as an organist and church musician, provides the regional connection.
The exact distribution of works will be published with the official program sheet from Lamberti Church Music. Works from the French symphonic tradition (Franck, Widor, Vierne, Duruflé, Dupré) are expected, along with references to North German organ literature.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in Spring/Summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
Works from the French symphonic organ tradition are the focus — supplemented by references to North German organ literature. Moments of improvisation are to be expected with a constellation of three Parisian organists and are part of the tradition of the respective Parisian schools.
