About Open Studios

The Open Studios Worpswede invite you once a year to visit the otherwise secluded workshops and studios of the Worpswede artists. For three days, painters, sculptors, photographers, designers, and ceramicists open their doors to the public. This format offers a rare insight into artistic work – right on site, in personal conversation with the artists, often with the opportunity to purchase works. In the artists' village of Worpswede, internationally known for its artists' colony since the late 19th century, a special tradition is thus maintained: the direct encounter between artists and the public.

The Open Studios Worpswede 2026 will take place from Friday, July 3, to Sunday, July 5, in the artists' village. The participating studios will open their doors to the public daily from 11 am to 6 pm. Painting, sculpture, photography, design, and ceramics will be presented. Participants and their locations will be announced via offene-ateliers-worpswede.de.

A Weekend Full of Visits

From Friday to Sunday evening, the studios open their doors. The studio tour can be planned individually and combined with a visit to the Worpswede museums.

A Weekend in the Artists' Village

The Open Studios Worpswede are one of the most charming art events in the Teufelsmoor. Unlike a curated gallery exhibition, visitors can experience the artists in their direct working environment – among easels, kilns, printing presses, and tools. This immediacy shapes the special character of the festival.

Various Disciplines

The spectrum of participating studios is broad: painting, sculpture, photography, design, ceramics, printmaking. Some workshops are set up in historic Worpswede houses, others in modern studios. A list of participating studios is published by the organizer in good time and allows for individual planning of the studio tour.

Family Atmosphere

The Open Studios are freely accessible and a welcome occasion for art lovers, but also for families, to get to know the artists' village in a relaxed atmosphere. Those who spend the whole day in the village can combine the studio tour with a visit to the Worpswede museums, the Große Kunstschau, or a walk in the Teufelsmoor.
