Eichelberg — A Viewpoint Hill Between Stromberg and Kraichgau
The Eichelberg is the hill between the districts of Ölbronn and Dürrn, nestled in the Stromberg-Heuchelberg region — one of Württemberg's traditional wine-growing areas. From up here, you can overlook the gently rolling hills towards Kraichgau in the north and the Black Forest in the south. The location is classic southern German wine culture: narrow rows of vines, sunken paths, scattered fruit trees between the slopes, and stone walls made of red sandstone.
The Festival — A Veteran of Village Festivals in the Enzkreis
The Eichelbergfest is a classic village festival with a focus on wine, organized by the Kulturverein Ölbronn-Dürrn. Date for 2026: Thursday, June 4, starting at 11 a.m. Set up directly among the vineyards at the Eichelberg summit — festival tent, long beer benches, food stalls, a small stage for live music.
What to Eat and Drink
The wine selection comes from surrounding wineries and the local cooperative: Trollinger, Lemberger, Schwarzriesling, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau — the typical Württemberg grape variety with Stromberg character. Beer, water, cider, and juices are also available. The culinary offerings are classic: Swabian snacks (Käsemaultaschen, Wurstsalat, Schmalzbrot, Schinken), sausages and steaks from the grill, fries, cake, and coffee in the afternoon.
Program
Opening at 11 a.m. with lunch, accompanied by lively music from a regional band. In the afternoon, the music program changes — often a smaller folk music or party band. In the evening, the festival winds down with a cozy bar. Family-friendly atmosphere, children can play on the meadows near the festival grounds, no separate children's program, but plenty of space to run around.
500 Visitors — A Manageable Festival with Character
With traditionally around 500 guests, the Eichelbergfest is not a mass festival, but a genuine gathering of people from the village, surrounding towns, and the hiking community. The atmosphere remains personal — those who stay for a few hours here will chat with neighbors, get to know regional wines, and experience the Swabian way of life that you don't find at large city festivals.
Ölbronn-Dürrn and the Stromberg Region
The municipality of Ölbronn-Dürrn (AGS 08236, Enzkreis) was formed in 1973 by merging the two namesake districts. Around 3,200 inhabitants, located between Pforzheim and Mühlacker. The Stromberg-Heuchelberg region is one of Württemberg's traditional smaller wine-growing areas — characterized by Lemberger, Trollinger, Schwarzriesling, and Müller-Thurgau. An ideal hiking area with the Stromberg-Höhenweg (Stromberg Ridge Trail), Stromberg-Schwarzwald-Radweg (Stromberg-Black Forest Cycle Route), and wine hiking trails directly through the vineyards.
Tip for Hikers
The Eichelbergfest is perfect for a half-day hike through the vineyards. For example, start in Ölbronn-Dürrn at the town hall, walk through the vines over the Eichelberg, stop at the festival, and then continue along the Stromberg-Höhenweg. Sturdy shoes are sufficient — no mountain stages, but enough ups and downs for a few hours outdoors.
