International Dressage Competition CDI4* at the Brandenburg State Stud
The Brandenburg State Stud Neustadt (Dosse) was founded in 1788 and is one of Germany's oldest state stud farms. On approximately 600 hectares, the foundation is dedicated to breeding and training sport and Trakehner horses and houses its own riding and driving school, offering vocational training for equine specialists. The stud is located in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district, in western Brandenburg, about 90 minutes northwest of Berlin.
The Neustädter Pferdesommer started in 2025 as a CDI3* competition — an exceptionally well-attended event right from its premiere, which justified a swift upgrade. For the second edition in 2026, the competition has been upgraded to CDI4* level — the second-highest status in international dressage, just below Olympic/World Championship level CDI5*. This makes the Pferdesommer one of the highest-ranked dressage competitions in Brandenburg and a firm fixture on the international calendar.
The 2026 competition runs from July 30 to August 2 and uses two arenas simultaneously:
The economic driver for the upgrade is the Sparkasse Ostprignitz-Ruppin, which announced its expanded commitment as the main sponsor of the Pferdesommer in May 2026. The partnership makes the CDI4* level financially viable and enables the extensive supporting program.
Neustadt an der Dosse is an equestrian town in the truest sense: in addition to the main stud, it also houses a vocational training center for equine specialists and the renowned *Neustädter Renn- und Stutbuchverein* (Neustadt Studbook and Racing Association). Visitors to the competition should take time for a stud tour — the facility itself is one of the most impressive 18th-century architectural ensembles in Brandenburg.
The Neustädter Pferdesommer 2026 takes place from July 30 to August 2, 2026, at the Brandenburg State Stud in Neustadt (Dosse). The second edition of the competition has been upgraded from CDI3* to CDI4* — the second-highest status in international dressage.
On Arena I, the international CDI classes will be held: CDI4* Grand Prix and Freestyle as the main classes, complemented by CDI2* and CDI1*. On Arena II, the national competition program (CDN) will run at various levels from L to S**. In addition, there will be Youngster Competitions for young dressage horses, as well as Junior (CDIJ) and Young Rider (CDIY) Competitions. The sporting highlight is the Grand Prix Freestyle on Sunday.
The main sponsor is the Sparkasse Ostprignitz-Ruppin, which confirmed its expanded commitment in May 2026.
The final competition schedule will be published shortly before the event at pferdesommer-neustadt.de. Changes are possible at any time.
