100th Anniversary of the Traditional Horse Show at the Brandenburg State Stud
The first Neustadt Stallion Parade was held in 1926—originally as an advertising and sales show for the then Royal Prussian State Stud. One hundred years later, the parade has become one of the best-known equestrian events in Central Europe, with a loyal regular audience from all over Germany and Europe. The 2026 anniversary edition will be celebrated accordingly.
As always, the parades take place on three Saturdays in September—in 2026 on September 12th, 19th, and 26th, from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM each day (admission from 10:00 AM). The grounds open three hours before the start—plenty of time for a picnic, stable tours, and exploring the historic stud ensemble.
Four hours of programme in 25 scenes showcase the full diversity of the Brandenburg State Stud:
The ceremonial opening is marked by fanfares with historical trumpet and timpani sounds—a tradition that has heralded the programme for over a century.
International show jumpers and dressage riders demonstrate top performance on Neustadt stallions. The show jumpers tackle obstacles up to 1.40 m, while the dressage horses present movements up to the Grand Prix level.
Riders in authentic uniforms of various Prussian regiments—Garde du Corps, Zieten Hussars, Dragoons, Uhlans—present historical riding culture. Brilliant show performances that highlight Neustadt's close connection to Prussian riding tradition.
The dramatic climax is the Roman Chariot Finale: riders stand upright on two horses galloping side-by-side—a breathtaking demonstration of horse control and riding artistry.
The stud farm in Neustadt (Dosse), located in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district, is one of Germany's most important horse breeding centres. Founded in 1788 by Frederick William II, it originally served to breed military horses for the Prussian army. Today, it primarily breeds Brandenburg Warmbloods. The entire area, including stables, riding halls, the palace, and the park, is a protected monument.
In its anniversary year, the Brandenburg State Stud celebrates 100 years of the Stallion Parade with a programme presented three times. Each of the three Saturdays offers the full show: fanfares to open, international show jumping and dressage acts, exhibition rides in the uniforms of the Garde du Corps, Zieten Hussars, Dragoons, and Uhlans, carriage parades, and the Roman chariot finale. Around 15,000 visitors per day are expected. Tickets are available in advance from several vendors (berlin.de/en/tickets, adticket.de, rausgegangen.de) and are highly sought after—early booking is recommended.
Neustadt (Dosse) is located in northern Brandenburg on the A24 motorway (Neuruppin exit). By train: RE6 from Berlin to Wittenberge, stop Neustadt (Dosse)—from there, a 10-minute walk to the State Stud. By car from Berlin: approx. 1 hour 15 minutes.
Tickets from €29 in advance—children aged 5–15 and severely disabled persons receive an 80% discount; children under 5 enter free. Purchase points: berlin.de/en/tickets, adticket.de, rausgegangen.de, and directly at the stud farm.
Admission from 10:00 AM, parade starts at 1:00 PM, ends around 5:00 PM.
