370th Edition — Neuruppin's Second Largest City Festival
The Neuruppiner Martinimarkt is one of Brandenburg's oldest folk festivals — the tradition dates back to 1656, when the market was first documented. Thus, the 2026 edition celebrates its 370th edition — a number that would make carnival strongholds like Cologne envious. After the Mai-Hafenfest, the market is Neuruppin's second-largest city festival and fills the city center for ten days every year in early November.
The 2026 edition runs from Friday, October 30th, to Sunday, November 8th, 2026 — spanning two weekends. The venue is the Schulplatz fairground as well as the adjacent Karl-Marx-Straße and the central squares of Neuruppin's city center. Free admission, 24/7 access to the festival grounds.
The logistics of the Martinimarkt are impressive: over 100 showmen, approx. 1 million LED lights, 315 m³ of wood chips for the ground, 25 km of electrical cable. A classic folk festival of superlatives — and in the densely populated rural region between Berlin and Hamburg, one of the most prominent autumn destinations for folk festival enthusiasts.
Confirmed for 2026 are the two rides Magic and Break Dance F1 from the showman family Meyer & Sohn. Other classic rides await visitors: Ferris wheel, bumper cars, Polyp, carousels for all generations, from young to old. In addition, there are game stalls, shooting ranges, lottery stalls, classic throwing games, claw machines, and the full range of candy stands — cotton candy, almonds, gingerbread, Schmalzkuchen, crêpes.
Neuruppin is the district capital of the Oder-Spree district, about 80 km northwest of Berlin. The city is primarily known as the birthplace of Theodor Fontane — who was born here in 1819 and immortalized the Mark Brandenburg in his "Wanderungen". The neoclassical city center with its Tempelgarten backdrop and its location on Lake Ruppin makes Neuruppin an attractive destination beyond the Martinimarkt. Those arriving in November should visit the Fontane Birthplace and the Klosterkirche.
What sets the Martinimarkt apart from many other showman folk festivals is the atmosphere: November in Northern Germany means early darkness, crisp cold air, sometimes frost. When the approximately one million LED lights turn on, the Ferris wheel rotates against the Neuruppin night sky, and the mulled wine steams — the event has a magic all its own. Those who experience it once will return.
The showman plan and supporting program will be updated by InKom Stadtmarketing Neuruppin on stadtmarketing-neuruppin.de shortly before the market begins. Confirmed and proven highlights:
Train: RE6 from Berlin-Gesundbrunnen to Neuruppin Rheinsberger Tor (approx. 1:20 h), then about 10 min. walk to Schulplatz. By car: A24 exit Neuruppin, parking in the city center.
Free admission to the festival grounds. Rides and game stalls at market prices — typically €3–€6 per ride, game stalls from €1.
The market is most atmospheric on weekday evenings, without the weekend crowds. For those with children: Family Day on the first Sunday (November 1st) — many showmen offer special rates. InKom Stadtmarketing Contact: +49 3391 82209-464.
