Heide-Touristik Neuenkirchen

Heide-Touristik Neuenkirchen is the tourist information center for the heathland community of Neuenkirchen in the Heidekreis district. Based in the historic Schröers-Hof at Kirchstraße 9, it not only organizes the Potato Festival and the Neuenkirchen Kirmes (fair), but also a variety of regular experience and gastronomy events that round off the heathland tourism offerings.

Schnuckeneintrieb at Heidschnuckenhof Niederohe

One of the most impressive heathland experiences is the Schnuckeneintrieb at Heidschnuckenhof Niederohe. On Wednesdays from 4:30 PM (from May to October), the herd returns to the stable after its day's grazing. Several hundred Heidschnucken (heathland sheep), accompanied by the shepherd and his sheepdogs, traverse the heath landscape. In August, additional drives take place on Saturdays – timed to coincide with the heath bloom.

Mittwochsgrill (Wednesday Grill)

The Mittwochsgrill is a weekly gastronomy event during the summer months. In the garden or on the terrace of a partner establishment, grilled specialties are served: steaks, sausages, skewers, salads, side dishes. The evening is accompanied by regional drinks and a relaxed atmosphere.

Bratkartoffelabend (Fried Potato Evening)

The Bratkartoffelabend is a regional specialty that holds particular significance in the heathland region. Bratkartoffeln (fried potatoes) with bacon, onions, and herbs are prepared in large pans and served communally. The dish is accompanied by heath honey mustard, quark with herbs, and a glass of heath beer.

Brochdorfer Grillabend (Brochdorf Grill Evening)

The Brochdorfer Grillabend takes place in the Brochdorf district of the municipality of Neuenkirchen. Here too, the focus is on convivial gathering with grilled specialties and regional drinks.

Schröers-Hof as the Hub

Schröers-Hof is a historic farmhouse from the 18th century and today houses the Heide-Touristik and a small heathland museum. Here, visitors can obtain information about accommodation, hikes, events, and culinary offerings in the region.
