Grand August Festival with Parade
Neef is part of the Calmont region and is situated in one of the most spectacular Moselle loops – opposite the famous Calmont, Europe's steepest vineyard with gradients of up to 65 degrees. The steep slopes of Neef are also significant for viticulture: the 'Neefer Frauenberg' and 'Neefer Petersberg' vineyards produce Rieslings with remarkable minerality and expressive fruit.
The Wine and Homeland Festival on the third weekend of August is the most important social event of the year in Neef. For three days, the village center transforms into a continuous festival mile with wine stands, a festival tent, food stalls, and beer wagons. The festival is organized by the Neef Wine and Homeland Festival Association, whose members volunteer to organize and manage the event.
Highlights of the festival weekend include the crowning of the new Neef Wine Queen on Saturday evening in the festival tent and the grand parade on Sunday afternoon. Floats, traditional costume groups, music bands, carnival clubs, and floats from Neef and neighboring towns parade through the festively decorated village, creatively showcasing local themes, club anniversaries, and the current festival motto.
The musical program ranges from Rhenish party music in the festival tent on Friday and Saturday evenings, to classical brass music during the Sunday morning 'Frühschoppen' (morning pint), and performances by local music and singing clubs during the 'Heimatabend' (homeland evening) to round off the festival. The culinary offerings feature typical Moselle festival cuisine.
The 2026 Wine and Homeland Festival in Neef runs from Friday, August 14th, to Sunday, August 16th. The festival is organized by the Neef Wine and Homeland Festival Association. The festival grounds are located in the village center.
