Naturpark Community 2026 — Homeland Festival in the Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft Nature Park
With the Nature Park Festival on July 4, 2026, Zeischa, a district of Bad Liebenwerda in the Elbe-Elster district, will officially receive the title Nature Park Community 2026. The award from the Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft Nature Park honors villages that are particularly committed to preserving the cultural landscape, to nature-compatible management, and to vibrant village life. For Zeischa, the award is the result of years of commitment by its residents — and the occasion for a big summer festival in the heart of the village.
The Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft Nature Park covers around 484 square kilometers between Elsterwerda, Bad Liebenwerda, and Senftenberg. Heathlands, pine forests, and former post-mining landscapes characterize the region. Zeischa is located on the edge of this natural area and has been committed for years to combining nature-based tourism and regional value creation. At the Nature Park Festival, the residents of Zeischa open their village to guests from the entire region — from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., the village square will be filled with life.
A varied program awaits you at the festival grounds at Dorfstraße 20: a regional market with products from the nature park, culinary specialties, musical entertainment, and hands-on activities for families. The award ceremony for Nature Park Community of the Year 2026 will be the festive highlight in the afternoon.
A special program item is the exhibition and award ceremony of the photo competition "30 Years of Nature Park – On the Trail". Amateur photographers from all over Niederlausitz have been searching for motifs that tell the story of three decades of nature park history — from heath blossoms and black grouse to scattered fruit orchards and old brick churches. The most beautiful shots will be exhibited and awarded in Zeischa.
Zeischa is reachable in a few minutes by car from Bad Liebenwerda. The nearest train station is Bad Liebenwerda on the Berlin–Falkenberg (Elster)–Cottbus line. Parking is available at the festival grounds. Allow some time — and ideally bring a bicycle, as the heath landscape around Zeischa is a worthwhile excursion tip before or after the festival.
Zeischa has been chosen as the host for the Nature Park Festival for the first time. The residents, together with the Niederlausitzer Heidelandschaft Nature Park, have organized a program that highlights the village's connection to the heathland. The highlight is the awarding of the title Nature Park Community 2026 in the afternoon.
A regional market, a stage for live music, and several hands-on stations for families will be set up on the village square at Dorfstraße 20. The entries from the photo competition "30 Years of Nature Park – On the Trail" will be exhibited and awarded — three decades of heathlands, pine forests, and village life captured in pictures.
Free admission. Food and drinks, as well as products at the regional market, at usual festival prices.
