34th edition of the Christmas market in the historic Nagold pedestrian zone — 70 stalls, Ferris wheel, Advent calendar town hall, and ice rink
When the fairy lights are switched on in the Nagold town center on the second weekend of Advent and mulled wine steam rises from over 70 stalls beneath the half-timbered facades, the Nagold Christmas Market is back. From December 4th to 6th, 2026, experience the 34th edition of this traditional market — one of the most beautiful Christmas market destinations in the Northern Black Forest and the district of Calw. The compact historic old town with its purely pedestrian zone, half-timbered houses, and the breathtaking Hohennagold castle ruins in the background creates a particularly dense Advent atmosphere.
The market stalls — over 70 lovingly decorated huts — are spread along Turmstraße and around the Marktplatz. You stroll through a backdrop of lights that is unique in a Swabian small-town atmosphere. Offered are handmade Black Forest crafts — carvings, wooden nativity scenes, felt decorations, jewelry, leather goods, Christmas baubles, and Advent wreaths. Alongside are regional Black Forest specialties: Black Forest Gateau, smoked sausages, Black Forest ham, fir honey, brandies, and liqueurs from regional distilleries.
A special feature that sets the Nagold Christmas Market apart from many others: a Ferris wheel in the center of the market. It offers a wonderful view over the Nagold old town, the festively illuminated half-timbered skyline, and — in clear weather — up to the heights of the Black Forest. The Ferris wheel is the secret star of the season, a photo magnet, and a unique viewpoint during Advent.
The Nagold Town Hall transforms into a glowing Advent calendar from November 26th, 2026 — every day a different window is opened and illuminated, the historic facade gradually becoming a Christmas light installation. The Night of Lights on November 20th, 2026 officially kicks off the season. Both complement the Christmas market to create a dense Advent program in the city.
From November 26th, 2026, the Nagold Ice Rink opens directly on the market square. With skate rental and a relaxed atmosphere, it complements the Christmas market experience — perfect for families with children or as a conclusion to a mulled wine visit. The ice rink operates throughout Advent until the New Year.
The gastronomic offerings are classically festive: mulled wine in several varieties (classic red, white, berry mulled wine, apple punch for children), Feuerzangenbowle (flaming rum punch), crêpes, bratwurst from a charcoal grill, potato pancakes, potato soup, fries, Maultaschen (Swabian dumplings), Black Forest sausage specialties, vegetarian and vegan options. Nagold's bakeries offer Black Forest Gateau, stollen, and cookies as take-away specialties.
The town of Nagold, with around 23,000 inhabitants, is located in the district of Calw in Baden-Württemberg, at the transition between the heights of the Northern Black Forest and the Heckengäu. The historic old town is unusually compact and entirely walkable — Hohennagold Castle ruins, half-timbered houses, town church, market square are all within a ten-minute walk. This makes the Christmas market a particularly compact, intimate experience — no endless strolling paths, but a dense Advent atmosphere in a medium-sized small town.
