A New Summer Event in the Bliesgau

With the MVO Summernight, the Musikverein Ommersheim is launching an ambitious new festival format in 2026: three days of summer atmosphere, dolce vita, and live music in the Bliesgau municipality of Mandelbachtal. The concept combines the orchestra's decades of stage experience with an Italian theme — from decorations with olive branches and lemon fairy lights to culinary specialties ranging from Pinsa and pasta to Tiramisu.

Location: Vichter Platz at the Saarpfalz-Halle

The venue is Vichter Platz directly at the Saarpfalz-Halle Ommersheim. The location is ideal: a central square with a stage area, plus the hall as a backup venue in case of bad weather. With Vichter Platz, Ommersheim becomes a festival arena intended to appeal to the entire village — and guests from the entire Saarpfalz district.

The Concept — Three Days, Three Moods

Each festival day has its own character:

• Friday — After-work party starting at 6 p.m., a relaxed start to the weekend
• Saturday — The highlight with a grand Italian concert evening; the large orchestra will present Mediterranean sounds of well-known Italian songs, with Italian specialties served all evening
• Sunday — Musical Breakfast starting at 10 a.m. with various orchestras from the association (registration required)

Italian Atmosphere in 2026

The motto Italian. Musical. Together. permeates the entire festival weekend. Expect:

• Pinsa from a wood-fired oven
• Fresh pasta stations with homemade sauces
• Antipasti platters with Italian cold cuts and cheese specialties
• Aperol Spritz, Italian wines, Limoncello
• Tiramisu, Cannoli, and other dolci
• Italian songs — from Adriano Celentano to Eros Ramazzotti to Andrea Bocelli, performed by the MVO's large orchestra

Musikverein Ommersheim — An Institution in the Bliesgau

The Musikverein Ommersheim e.V. is one of the active associations in the municipality of Mandelbachtal. The association has several orchestras of different instrumentations and skill levels, from youth music to a large symphonic wind orchestra. With the MVO Summernight, the association is creating its own platform for representation — a confident step for a music association that has primarily performed as a guest at other festivals until now.

Mandelbachtal in the Saarpfalz District

Mandelbachtal is located in the southeastern Saarpfalz district within the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Bliesgau. The municipality consists of several districts, including Ommersheim, Erfweiler-Ehlingen, Bliesmengen-Bolchen, and Habkirchen. It is characterized by its hilly landscape, scattered orchards, and proximity to the French border. The Ommersheim district, with its nearly 2,000 inhabitants, brings a summer highlight to the region with the MVO Summernight.
