The most famous film melodies in history — live in the Vogtlandhalle with a large screen and the Vogtland Philharmonie
The Vogtland Philharmonie Greiz-Reichenbach is one of the traditional symphony orchestras of East Thuringia and West Saxony — based in Greiz and Reichenbach in the Vogtland region. One of its most popular formats is the annual Musiknacht, which is held under a different theme each year. In 2026, the theme is "Sounds of Hollywood": a journey through the film music history of American cinema.
Three elements intertwine in the Musiknacht: firstly, the symphony orchestra of the Vogtland Philharmonie, which presents the great film themes instrumentally. Secondly, four powerful vocal soloists — soprano Annika Rioux, the platinum and gold award-winning singer Myra Maud, singer-songwriter Lewin Blümel, and the female trio "Voc A Bella". Thirdly, an oversized video wall showing images from the films — from the "Star Wars" fanfare to the opening scene, through the "Titanic" themes to iconic scenes, and on to James Bond themes with corresponding film sequences.
The Vogtlandhalle Greiz is the city's central event hall with a modern concert hall and a spacious stage area. For the Musiknacht, it is converted into a film music stage — the large video wall allows every listener to have a direct view of the film images corresponding to the sounds. This audiovisual concept has made the Musiknacht one of the most successful concert formats in the region: thousands attend the various performances every year.
Greiz is the district town of the Greiz district in eastern Thuringia, directly on the border with Saxony. The former residence city of the Reuss princes is now one of the cultural centers of the region with its two castles and the Vogtlandhalle. The Vogtland Philharmonie Greiz-Reichenbach is the most important ensemble here — and the Musiknacht one of its best-known highlights.
The symphony orchestra of the Vogtland Philharmonie will play the great film themes from Hollywood history: John Williams themes (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Schindler's List, Jurassic Park), James Horner works (Titanic, Avatar, Braveheart), James Bond themes, Ennio Morricone's Westerns, Hans Zimmer soundtracks, and more.
The orchestra will be joined by four powerful vocal soloists — soprano Annika Rioux, the platinum and gold record-winning singer Myra Maud, singer-songwriter Lewin Blümel, and the female trio Voc A Bella. On an oversized video wall, film scenes will be shown in sync with the music, creating a direct visual connection.
