Music Festival in a Historic Barn

The Musikfeste auf dem Lande (Music Festivals in the Countryside) are a format of the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival (SHMF): open-air classical music days held at historic estates, castles, and monastery complexes throughout the state. One of the most charming venues is Gut Emkendorf – an 18th-century neoclassical manor house with its own historic barn, which is transformed into a concert hall.

Wind Quintet quinTTTonic in the Spotlight

The wind quintet quinTTTonic is the main artist for 2026. The young ensemble of five top wind players has established itself in recent years as one of the most sought-after wind quintets in Germany. In Emkendorf's historic barn, quinTTTonic will perform a diverse program of classical wind quintet works and arrangements – the barn's acoustics and intimate atmosphere will make the ensemble shine.

Two-Day Program

• Saturday 1 PM–6 PM: Open-air program around the estate (picnic, manor tours, stage music in the courtyard)
• Saturday evening: Main concert in the historic barn with quinTTTonic
• Sunday 11 AM–4 PM: Continuation of the open-air program and further concerts

Emkendorf is located in the middle of the idyllic landscape of the Rendsburg-Eckernförde district, about 20 kilometers west of Kiel and near Rendsburg. Gut Emkendorf is one of the most beautiful estates in the North German agricultural and cultural landscape – the combination of the manor house, farm buildings, park, and historic barn makes the estate one of Schleswig-Holstein's most attractive classical music locations. The music festival is part of the five-part SHMF series “Musikfeste auf dem Lande”.
