Traditional museum festival on Corpus Christi Day in Europe's second-largest Bugatti museum
The Museum AUTOVISION in Altlußheim is one of the most important automotive museums in Southern Germany. Founded by Felix Wankel scholar Dr. Carlo Schlüter, the museum documents German automotive culture in six exhibition halls — with a special focus on Bugatti (the museum is Europe's second-largest Bugatti museum), Wankel (NSU), and the broad German automotive tradition. With the annual museum festival on Corpus Christi Day, the museum opens its doors at special prices, combining the exhibitions with a classic car festival on the street in front.
The festival runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and combines several program elements:
• Museum visit at a special price — access to all six exhibition halls
• Highlight 2026: EMMA — electric racing car from the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences (DHBW), which also drives autonomously
• New Bugatti engines in Europe's second-largest Bugatti museum
• Classic Car Show on the closed-off Kurpfalzstraße — structured outdoor exhibition with numerous classics
• Live Acoustic Music — unplugged program in the museum area
• Refreshments by the local sports club with coffee, cake, and snacks
• Carousel for families with children
A cozy family program with a real petrolhead focus.
Altlußheim (Rhein-Neckar district, AGS 08226, around 5,600 inhabitants) is located between Mannheim and Speyer in the Upper Rhine Plain. The municipality is a classic residential community in the Speyer commuter belt — and home to a technical and cultural center with the Museum AUTOVISION that has supra-regional appeal. The museum is a member of important automotive collector networks and attracts visitors from all over Germany and abroad.
On Thursday, June 4, 2026 (Corpus Christi Day), Museum AUTOVISION opens its doors from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for its traditional museum festival. Six exhibition halls — Bugatti (second-largest museum in Europe), Wankel/NSU, German automotive history, engine culture — are accessible at a special price.
The highlight of the 2026 edition is the electric racing car "EMMA", developed by the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences — a fully electric racing vehicle that also drives autonomously. In addition, new Bugatti engines will be presented. In front of the museum, Kurpfalzstraße is closed and forms part of a large classic car show where classic car owners present their vehicles. Acoustic live music ("unplugged"), refreshments by the local sports club with coffee, cake, and snacks, and a carousel for children complete the festival.
