Three days in the Stadtgarten and city center — glittering lights and an attractive festival weekend
The Murrhardter Stadtfest enters its sixth edition in 2026. From Friday, July 5th, to Sunday, July 7th, 2026, the Stadtgarten and the historic city center of Murrhardt, a town in the Schwäbisch Hall district, will be transformed into a festival grounds. The festival originated in the 2020s and has quickly established itself as the most important Stadtfest of the summer.
The Murrhardter Stadtgarten — a traditional park in the city center — forms the heart of the festival. Here you'll find the main stage, central catering stands, and the festival tent. The city center, with its half-timbered houses, the town church, and narrow alleys, is also part of the festivities — a blend of park and old town atmosphere that characterizes the event.
The festival is organized by the city of Murrhardt in close cooperation with local clubs and restaurateurs. The clubs — music association, sports club, fire department, cultural initiatives — operate catering stands and provide live entertainment. The city center's restaurateurs open their establishments, some with outdoor seating, directly on the festival grounds. This combination of club and professional catering elevates the culinary offerings beyond the usual Stadtfest level.
The festival's specialty is the special glittering lights in the Stadtgarten on all three festival evenings from 9:30 PM. Fairy lights in the trees, accent lighting on paths and squares, light displays on the water features — the Stadtgarten transforms into a park of light. An atmosphere that sets the festival weekend apart from many other Stadtfests.
Murrhardt, a 'Große Kreisstadt' (major district town) with around 14,000 inhabitants, is located in the Rems-Murr district, on the southern edge of the Swabian-Franconian Forest. The historic city center with the town church, the Walterichkirchlein, and the half-timbered houses is considered one of Württemberg's most beautiful cityscapes. Murrhardt is one of the traditional monastery sites (Walterich Church from the 11th century) — and at the same time a town for hiking and recreation between Stuttgart and Heilbronn.
From Friday, July 5th, to Sunday, July 7th, 2026, the sixth Murrhardter Stadtfest will take place. The Stadtgarten and the historic city center will be transformed into a festival backdrop for three days. The city of Murrhardt organizes the festival together with local clubs and restaurateurs — a combination that elevates the culinary and musical offerings beyond the usual Stadtfest level.
The festival's specialty is the special glittering lights in the Stadtgarten — on all three festival evenings from 9:30 PM, the park transforms into a unique light spectacle. Fairy lights in the trees, accent lighting, and light displays on the water features create a unique atmosphere.
