Open-air play by the amateur theatre group about the adventures of the Baron of Lies
The stories of Baron von Münchhausen are known worldwide: the ride on the cannonball, the half-dog, the moon that must be retrieved, the horse that continues to run after being cut in half. In Bodenwerder, these adventures are performed outdoors Sunday after Sunday by an amateur theatre group – with costumes, effects, and a great sense of humour.
The performance season runs from May to October. On the first Sunday of each month, the square in front of the town hall or the town hall park transforms into an open-air stage. The compact duration of around 50 minutes makes the play easily accessible, even for younger children.
Anyone spending a Sunday in Bodenwerder can easily combine the Münchhausen Play with a visit to the Münchhausen Museum, a stroll through the historic town centre, and a break on the Weser promenade. This creates a well-rounded programme of theatre, culture, and nature.
Over the years, the amateur theatre group in Bodenwerder has built up a solid core of actors. The productions are popular, with a good sense of humour for the punchlines of the Münchhausen tales and a clear connection to the Münchhausen town.
The six dates between May and October are evenly distributed throughout the season, thus offering a reliable weekend programme in Bodenwerder.
Each performance lasts approx. 50 minutes.
