One night, one wristband, a hundred locations: Culture festival in eastern Cologne on April 25, 2026
Since 2012, the Mülheimer Nacht has been one of the most distinctive cultural festivals in eastern Cologne. The 15th edition takes place on Saturday, April 25, 2026 – a decade-plus commitment that transforms the Cologne-Mülheim district into an open stage for one night. From 7:00 PM until late into the night, over 100 locations between Deutz-Mülheimer Straße and Berliner Straße open their doors.
The brilliant concept: a single wristband — access to everything. Bars, studios, galleries, workshops, backyards, event spaces – the entire Mülheim creative quarter becomes a large festival zone. No multiple entries, no bouncers with cash registers, no change-sorting stress. Buy a wristband, wander through the district, visit 10 locations, discover new ones, meet acquaintances. This creates a dynamic that only district festivals of this size possess.
The program spectrum is broad:
A special feature that has become a festival hallmark: a tractor shuttle runs between locations. Festival guests travel through the Mülheimer Nacht on an open trailer – more romantic and peculiar than any regular shuttle bus. A mix of transportation and a mobile mini-stage (sometimes musicians sing on the trailer).
The organizing anchor point is Kulturbunker Mülheim e.V. – a socio-cultural center in a former air-raid shelter in Mülheim, established as a concert, event, and cultural venue since the 1990s. Other participating entities include Mülheim district associations, a business association, artist initiatives, and galleries.
Mülheim is a district in eastern Cologne, in Borough 9, with approximately 41,000 inhabitants. Historically an independent city (until 1914), it is now a vibrant neighborhood with its own identity – multicultural, alternative, creative. The Mülheimer Brücke connects the district with western Cologne. A zone that plays a special role in Cologne's cultural geography: less tourism, more subculture, more artist studios, more independent bars and galleries than in downtown Cologne. The Mülheimer Nacht makes this experienceable for everyone once a year.
The annual major event of eastern Cologne. One night where bars, studios, galleries, and backyards jointly create a district program that doesn't emerge anywhere else in Cologne with such density.
Advance sale of wristbands via muelheimernacht.de and Mülheim points of sale. Box office sales possible, but more expensive. Exact prices on the festival website.
Cologne-Mülheim, right bank of the Rhine. Festival area between Deutz-Mülheimer Straße and Berliner Straße. By KVB (Cologne Public Transport): Light rail lines 4 and 13, stops Wiener Platz, Berliner Straße, Buchforst. By train: S-Bahn station Köln-Mülheim or Trimbornstraße. Public transport is strongly recommended.
Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 7:00 PM until late into the night.
Mandatory for all locations. Advance purchase via muelheimernacht.de and at several points of sale in the district. Also available at the box office on the day, but at a higher price.
Runs between the main locations. The exact route will be announced on muelheimernacht.de.
Don't try to see everything – it's impossible with 100+ locations. Better to choose 5-7 spots, linger there, and chat with people. Festival atmosphere instead of a speed tour.
