Mülheim an der Ruhr — City in the Western Ruhr Area

Mülheim an der Ruhr, with around 175,000 inhabitants in the western Ruhr area, North Rhine-Westphalia state, is located on the Ruhr river between Essen, Duisburg, and Oberhausen. With the main campus of the Hochschule Ruhr West and the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr as a cultural center, Mülheim has two event anchors that are optimally connected for the company run — starting at the modern university campus, finishing at the industrial-cultural locomotive shed.

10th Anniversary 2026

The Mülheim Company Run starts its 10th edition in 2026. The organizer is bunert Events GmbH, one of the most renowned company run organizers in the Ruhr area (also active in Essen and Oberhausen). The anniversary is accompanied by a conceptual expansion: for the first time, a separate walking route complements the classic running format. The organizer is thus responding to the trend towards more inclusive sports events — employees who do not want or cannot run are also equally involved.

Two Routes — Running or Walking

Running Route (5.6 km): Start at Hochschule Ruhr West at 6:30 PM, finish at Ringlokschuppen. Route through Mülheim-Heißen and the Ruhr valley.

Walking Route (7.7 km): Start and finish at Ringlokschuppen at 4:30 PM. Longer distance for a relaxed walking pace, passing the most beautiful spots of the Mülheim city center and along the Ruhr riverbank.

Both routes end at the same location — the after-run party in the Ringlokschuppen — and are timed so that all participants can celebrate together.

Format for Companies

Registration is primarily through company teams: firms register their employees, who start in matching jerseys. For individuals whose employers do not participate, the collective team "Team Laufsport bunert" is available. Additional services for companies include reserved beer garden tables (€120 plus VAT for 8–10 people, with branding), LED messages (€100 plus VAT for 10-second slots on a 16.5 m² LED screen), and drink vouchers for employees.

After-Run Party and Ringlokschuppen

After the run, participants can look forward to the After-Run Party at the Ringlokschuppen Ruhr — one of the most famous cultural venues in the western Ruhr area, housed in a historic locomotive shed from the late 19th century. Live music, catering, drinks, and networking among Mülheim and Ruhr area companies are on the agenda. Those who participate in the company run usually do so with colleagues — and the reunion of many companies from Mülheim, Essen, Oberhausen, and Duisburg on one evening is an industry event in the western Ruhr area.
