Open-air mountain services on Bindalm and Hirschkaser in the Berchtesgaden region
The mountain services in Ramsau near Berchtesgaden in Bavaria combine lived faith with the majesty of the mountains. From May to October, open-air mountain services are regularly held – primarily on the idyllic Bindalm and at the Hirschkaser above Ramsau. The services last about 30 minutes and are cancelled in case of rain.
The traditional mountain service on the Bindalm is organized by the Kolping family of Berchtesgaden with its board and is one of the highlights of the association's life. It is musically accompanied by an alphorn ensemble and an accordion; the deep, gentle tones of the alphorns echo through the mountain landscape, creating a special atmosphere.
Mountain services are also held at the Hirschkaser (Toter Mann). The location is accessible on foot via hiking trails or conveniently by chairlift and offers a wide panorama of the surrounding mountains of the Berchtesgaden region.
The mountain services are embedded in the rich customs of Ramsau. Around the mountain services, traditional costume and music associations cultivate alpine culture – for example, at the Pentecost concert of the Ramsau music band or at the Almtanzl at the Berggasthof Gerstreit. Ramsau is considered one of the centers of lived traditional costume culture in the Bavarian Alps.
In 2026, mountain services will be regularly celebrated outdoors in Ramsau near Berchtesgaden from May to October. The main locations are the idyllic Bindalm and the Hirschkaser above Ramsau in the Berchtesgaden region.

Ramsau near Berchtesgaden is located in the Berchtesgadener Land district. The Bindalm is only accessible on foot via hiking trails (e.g., from Hintersee / Wimbachbrücke); the Hirschkaser is accessible on foot or by chairlift. Sturdy footwear and mountain equipment recommended.
